Cookies review from another thread December 09, 2011

Last night we had the Almond Chicken Curry with Yoghurt. Another hit. It was ever so nice. As there is only 3 of us I halved the recipe. I served it with rice, corn, broccoli and carrot. We then had some pappadums to help slurp the extra sauce.
Thanks again for another winner.

Hally's review

December 12, 2011

Today I made the almond chicken curry. We both enjoyed it, simiar to a chicken korma. I omitted the chillis so ds would eat it, but he still didnt want too. The chillis i think would  give it the extra bite.

We did enjoy it very much, dh is having some for lunch and to the freezer the other serves will go.

Unfortunately this was not a success here.  I'm not sure what I did wrong but all we could really taste was the star anise. Oh well, onto the next recipe.

I have this on the menu plan for this week and was wondering if it would still be ok without the star anise and fennel seeds? Are they strong flavours?

No Tasty they don't overpower the flavour at all...it's a great balance of flavours...don't leave them out!  :)

I made this tonight and it's actually a very simple recipe and tastes delicious, especially when seasoned with salt.

I didn't have a ceramic dish big enough to hold the 12 chicken thighs required so had to spread it over 2 dishes which was fine.

There was an unusual smell happening while it was cooking and I'm not the best at describing smells but it was kinda smokey.

Will make again during winter months.

Here are the results:

First recipe I made from the Dinner Spinner & we LOVED it :)  Rich sauce.  Tender meat.  In the oven with nothing to do..... whats not to like?

I made this for dinner last week but sadly I would have to say I found the sauce to be really bland. I was so looking forward to eating it as it had such a long cooking time but it just didn't do it for me!

I made this the other day and I did enjoy it but my husband and daughter found it a bit spicy.

I only used half the chicken but still made the full amount of sauce.  I tried halving the oven cooking time but it didn't quite work as not all of the chicken pieces were cooked through.  I ended up having to put them back in on their own for an extra 10 minutes.

All in all a good dish but if you don't want a late dinner then you need to start early to allow for the long cooking time in the oven.

Had this tonight. I loved it kids thought it ok had hubby over for tea and he didn't like it but I omitted the yoghurt from his dish so that could be why. I served it with garlic naan from the Indian cook book and rice. Very yummy though
