Something simple to make but VERY impressive LOL

a friend (hi kate :D) is going to a pot luck and wants to impress without doing anything too complex.

any suggestions?

More info please Karen.  What exactly is a pot luck?  Are we talking about snacks and nibbles or something more substantial and for how many people?

ahhh i pot luck dinner is where everyone takes something to share :)

i can see kate's joined (bzzzbee, come and say hi ) but she's decided on a mussamun curry and the salted maple caramel (?) icecream
