Hi,
I am moving from Australia to the US and I want to take my thermomix (purchased in Australia, 240v) with me. Does anyone have any experience with using the thermomix with a voltage adapter? Or do you know if the same machine can run on both voltages? It will be a pain to have to run it from a big adapter... but there is no way I am going to leave it behind!

Thanks for any help
Jenny

Hi Jenny - and welcome!  I daresay your new American friends and neighbours are going to be "gobsmacked" when they see how easily you cook up a storm!  I can't answer your question - you'd think that it would be pretty straight forward to use an adapter but I'd start with your consultant and/or a direct enquiry to the HO to make doubly sure!  Let's know how it all works out for you as I'm sure there'll be some others wanting to do the same . . . Good luck! :)

It's not just the voltage that is different in USA  (110, not 120), but also the frequency. Australia's mains are 50 hz, USA is 60.  You really need to go to head office and ask if it's safe to use a transformer.  You might be safer buying another Thermomix from Canada.

It is my understanding that you need a large transformer. Yes they are bulky and pricy too. I also understand that Thermomix machiens don't perform as well when used with a transformer. These things I've been told by both electrician types who knew their stuff and by Thermomix owners who have experience with this. I have no personal experience though.

If it were me facing this decision, I'd sell the Australian one to my dearest non-Thermomix-owning friend in Oz and start afresh in the USA. They're not sold in the USA however, so you will never get the level of support and service that you enjoyed in Australia. These facts alone may be enough reason to reconsider moving to another continent.  ;)
