Which cookbook - For Food's Sake or Quick Fix in the Thermomix

Hi all, after reading all the great reviews for both of these books I would really like to purchase both but with a big holiday and lots of other expenses coming up I can only really afford one. For those of you who have both which would you choose if you could only purchase one? I'm interested in everyday meals for a family with kids who, like most, are very time poor. These days DH needs to go most of the cooking and while he's great, he really needs great instructions that don't need any tweaking.

Hi wonder,
I love them both. This is hard as they are different.
For everyday kid friendly meals I think QFITT, ds 8 has eaten every recipe that I have made from this book whereas FFS he loves some but wont touch others. For cooking for friends FFS has richer recipes which all adults really enjoy.
I would be sad if I didnt own both, initially I had dinner spinners, then I bought QFITT, wasnt going to buy FFS, had a look inDymocks & had to buy it.
I could happily cook from these 2 books for a month & not look else where for recipes.
Probably havent helped you at all!!!

I'm interested in the replies to this one as well. As I don't have either one but would love to get just one more cook book (ha ha).

I have to agree with Hally. They both have a place next to the Thermomix - QFITT more for everyday cooking or people just starting out with their TMX but in FFS there are also many everyday recipes but as we all like to extend our cooking skills to another level, this book is a must too and it does not go to the extreme with our cooking skills. They will be around for a long time so I'm sure you can all manage to get both in due course - we all have birthdays, Mothers' Day and Christmas lists so I suggest you add these books to that list and join the many happy people who own them. You will not regret buying both - these books are, in my opinion, the best books you can expect to find available at this time and I'm sure there will be more to come.

Couldn't agree more with JD! I couldn't resist either one and now wouldn't be without both - If you can manage both I'm sure you won't regret it!

I love both books also & agree with Hally & JD's comments.
I don't think I could choose if I was told I could only have one.
Because I work quite long days & my partner is home from work a lot earlier than me, he does the cooking some nights. He can cook, but isn't confident if he hasn't made something before.
This year he has decided to try 1 new recipe each week. Not always using Thermie though. I choose the recipe & make sure we have all the ingredients & then leave him too it. He has made a few things (successfully) from QFITT. The recipes have short easy to follow instructions. I'm sure your DH would be able make lots of the recipes from this book.
Tenina's book is full of lots of lovely recipes & staples which I'm looking forward to making.
I would get both books if you can

Gee you guys make it hard to make a decision. That's it I'm getting both once I have the spare $$. All these great reviews are driving me crazy. The last book I purchased is the MWOC which is great as well.

Thanks for all the quick replies. Am I correct in thinking I can only purchase Quick Fix online?

Yes Wonder.
I echo what everyone else has said. I love both books. At present I have made more from Teninas than Alyces though. Perhaps look at all the reviews and decide on the things you would make and tally up to see which book they are from.
Good luck in deciding.

Hi Wonder, have you checked out both books for the list of contents? I love QFITT, as I eat GF and try to eat very healthy and have been very happy with any of the recipes I haved cooked.
I haven't bought Tenina's book as decided I probably wouldn't cook quite a few of the recipes (too much gluten) , from reading the list of contents. However, I really admire Tenina's cooking so I'll wait for the app

Thanks everyone. Well I decided to go through with purchasing Alyce's book first as I would really prefer the app of Tenina's and I think we would use Alyce's a little more at the moment, but I've been having lots of trouble actually purchasing from her website today. I'll try again later tonight but maybe the website is trying to tell me something!!

Thanks to all who have input into this really useful discussion. I, too, have been wanting to buy these books but can't justify buying two more right now.
It looks as if QFITT is the one to go for initially and then wait for a special occasion for FFS. I do have the dinner spinner app so am not totally bereft of Tenina recipes

Wonder, try sending Alyce a PM., if you can't get through.
