Looks great JD! All those hours you spent preparing for it were certainly worth it. I'm sure the maintenance will be much easier than having the real lawn. I love how your GS hops in all the photos - too cute!

Looks great Judy. Would be great for us being on tank water here, would save heaps.
Not too sure if my 4 legged lawn mowers would like it though...can see my boys (horses) trying to munch on it after they have "snuck quietly" around the corner onto the lawn. They think they are being tricky - but 2 horses don't sneak quietly anywhere!
Hmph - would need more than a leaf blower after they have left their mark in disgust when they realise they can't eat it!!

Would you believe I hadn't actually tried it so just for you Kim, I've been outside in the dark road testing them both barefooted. The back one is really soft underfoot, it is so lovely to walk on and the front one is slightly 'crunchy' but still nice to walk on.  However, when it gets hot I don't believe you can run around on it with bare feet as it does get rather hot I am told - I am not a bare foot person so that doesn't worry me and the kids usually have their shoes on too.

WOW  JD.  That looks fabulous.  Congratulations on a succesful and practical makeover.
DH's Aunt in Adelaide had the same done and just such a good idea.
No mow and just a whip over with the leaf blower when needed.

I told DH I wanted it when we lived in Adelaide but we ended up just covering the whole yard in mulch about 30cm deep.  And then planted what we wanted in that.

Looks fantastic JD. DH & I are considering replacing our small patch of back lawn with fake. He is sick of fighting the weeds and lawn beetles
