Pictures of our back yard makeover
« on: March 15, 2012, 06:12:19 am »
There are a few people who are aware that we were going to have artificial turn laid in our back yard so I have decided to post them on here for everyone to see - some before and after photos.

What a difference!!  That looks fabulous JD.  You and Geoff must be really happy with that - all your neighbours will be very envious!  Does it feel 'grass-like'?  Just imagine - no more lawns to mow, what a tempting thought!

The change is amazing. Love the little GS too. I guess he was helping.

Wow Judy that looks great. Would love my lawn to look like that all the time. My BF lawn looks like that but it's real grass. She spends so long looking after it (although she has a real small yard). Looks perfect.

Thanks girls, we have it out the front too, here's a couple of photos from out there.  The backyard turf is a fine leaf whereas the front one, done over 2 years ago has a wider blade - both are good but I think the back one is better.  We will now be able to play boules out there with the children.  Only able to afford it because the company is owned by my DD2 and her DH ;)  I sacked the lawnmower man before Christmas so that it would die off but it is nice to not have to water it too.  I pulled out a few trees from the border and cut back the shrubs then planted out quite a few new shrubs and seedlings so when they all grow it should look pretty full and colourful. GS just decided he was going to be in the before pictures for some reason.

Do you have to do anything with it Judy? Like vacuum/blow or wash down ?  With Australia's harsh climate and water restrictions I think this is a brilliant idea.

ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS

Love it, love fake grass. We have it out the back. We would have liked it at the front but  too costly for us. Our front l awn is dead, the sprinklers died and then the lawn died. We were away at the time.

You  can either blow the leaves off or use a leaf rake - the size of the back I think I will be blowing it.  That's why I cut down a couple of the trees as they lost too many leaves and they would have all ended up on the lawn.  Weeds (couch probably) will come up around the edges but you can spray them with poison, it won't harm the grass neither will animals but I would certainly be picking up after them as I would on real lawn.  You don't have to wash it down, the rain can do that.

So pretty low maintenance then Judy. I like the idea of that.
I have a rechargeable blower I use all the time for all areas around the house. They are so easy a quick to use, and keep everything looking neat and tidy.
