Have had better weeks
« on: March 16, 2012, 03:32:12 pm »
I had to come up to Perth this week for work meetings from Wed to Friday.  Tuesday was a long Tuesday was a long day at work and then I had to travel to Perth. My car overheated 20 kms from home. By the time I got it cooled down and got underway again I didn't arrive in Perth until about 10 pm.

Wednesday my DW (who was also in Perth for an appt) ran over something and blew a tyre on a busy rode. She doesn't change tyres so I had to cut short a retirement function for a colleague and rescue her.

Thursday DW took the car that I drove up from Perth (the one that over heated and had spent the previous day in the mechanics) and headed home.  She never made it to Armadale before it overheated again.  I left my meeting and drove to her to swap cars. I then spent the next several hours trying to get the car on the road and eventually calling the RAC.

My poor little MG is now back at the mechanics and awaiting a part from the eastern states. The dealer tells me that the part alone is going to cost $600 not including labour.

I am spending the next couple of days in Perth so I can compete in a triathlon on Sunday and look at a house with DD who is looking at entering the world of home ownership. I think I am going to be doing some cooking to relieve my stress and so that I know DD eats well for a few days at least.

I am looking forward to a better week next week.

Things couldn't possibly get worse next week surely Dashingden - what a horror few days you had.  Just veg out with DD over the weekend, enjoy your marathon and hopefully the car will be fixed quickly and life can return to normal.

What a lousy week Dashingden. Cooking will be excellent therapy.

Well that's three things that went wrong, so that means no more! Go buy a Lotto ticket!

Poor you, it's bad enough having to go to Perth, let alone having all that trouble.
A great cook is one who can rustle up a fabulous family meal with some freezer burnt chops, wilted carrots, sprouting potatoes and cabbage that's gone brown on the cut edges.

MJ I did buy a lottery ticket today.

Cookie the cooking has been good therapy. So had the eating unfortunately.

My youngest DD is sitting in the path of cyclone Lua. She is "personinng" the evac centre in Newman. I am pleased that she is not going to be alone and that she is in a safe place.

We have friends up that way Dashingden, so your daughter is possibly 'personning' them.

Thanks everyone for your kind words.  DD has lived through cyclone Lua with no problems. By the time it reached Newman it was downgraded to a category one. She reckoned that it was no worse than some thinder storms etc that they get.

I doubt that your friends ended up at the evac centre.  DD said that they only had about 30 people all local Mardu people, mostly the old and some people with young children or people visiting town from other communities.

I finished my triathlon today.  I was very happy with my run time, and I guess my cycle time wasn't too bad. It was a very hilly cycle course so while I was slower that I would normally like I guess it was to be expected.

I am looking forward to next week. I am sure it will be better.
