Another Newbie :-)

Hi All 

My name is Catherine and I have just taken delivery of my Thermomix last weekend. 4 weeks ago, I have never heard of it, now, I can't live without it.

I moved to a granny flat to be closer to work and have a metre & a half benchtop with cupboards underneath it as a "kitchen". For a very keen cook I was devasted with this and family & friends were worried they will never eat my home made food again. Then I discovered Thermomix (thanks Google) and all is well in the land of Cath 

I have equipped myself with a benchtop combination oven/microwave/grill/stove, Thermomix and a Weber BabyQ on the patio and I can't think of anything these 3 cannot make.

Thank you Thermomix for making it possible to have a complete kitchen anywhere, and to this Forum so I can tap into the knowledge that everyone shares so very generously !!!

Welcome Cath, you will love your TMX, I'm on my own and I use it everyday, just steamed a piece of stuffed rump in the Varoma, it was a budget cut only $6.99 a kilo, browned it first and them steamed it, i stuffed it with Caramelised Garlic, Silverbeet and home made holoumi cheese, it was better than I expected it to be and so moist, really tasty , I steamed the veggies in the rice basket and then reduced the water left in the bowl and made gravy.  I very seldom have a roast but was reading about this today and gave it a try, this forum is fantastic, so many ideas and so much help.   Hoping to hear from you soon, enjoy...

Thank you for this brilliant suggestion. I stopped reading at the homemade haloumi bit and had to re-read again! Did you make the haloumi with your thermomix? I can't believe steamed rump works. I will definitely try this one.

Welcome to the forum Catherine, sounds like the TM is exactly what you needed in your small kitchen. Absolutely perfect along with your convection Microwave (I have one of these too) and webber there will be no stopping you keeping the family and friends happy with your home made goodies

Welcome to the forum Catherine. People are often surprised by how accommodating the thermomix is in a small kitchen.
I also have very limited bench space and the thermomix fits in perfectly.

Hi Catherine, welcome to the forum.  I can see you are going to love it on here - with collective ideas from our members, excellent recipes and reviews, lots of laughs as well as stories of our day to day problems, it sure beats daytime television You have everything you need there to be able to feed yourself or entertain so your friends have nothing to fear, their invites to meals will still happen. Help yourself to our recipes, post some reviews and when you have time, share some of your own conversions perhaps.

Thank you everybody for your very warm welcome notes  

I can't get over how this little piece of equipment works it's little guts out & how easy it is to use. For dinner last night I made us pumpkin soup, my bolognese sauce and a quick whip of frozen berries with a dash of cream. I saved at least 2.5 hrs using the Thermomix!

Pumpkin soup was divine and I was told my bolognese sauce cooked in the Thermomix is even better than the one I make on the stove which takes hours of simmering. I followed the "cooking directions" in the Everyday cookbook but used the ingredients that I normally used and added an extra 10 mins of cooking time at the end. Frozen berries & cream was really really smooth.

A friend commented on the steep price of my baby and that she doesn't think the price is justified. I completely disagree. My time is VERY important to me, and that is priceless

Welcome to the forum.
Time = Money in $$$$$, which can be well spent on finding recipes on here to make.
 I spend alot of time here, then go home and make fantastic meals quickly.

Hello and welcome Cath. Alot of my friends also commented on the $, but to me, eating healthier is worth every cent of the thermomix. It will save us the expensive medical costs down the track. Also at $38 per week (over 12 months)  it is not that expensive. Some people spend that on one meal out.

Welcome Catherine. The TMX sounds like the perfect thing for you with your busy life and small kitchen.
