Soft Herb Bread Rolls (converted from Bigoven.com)
Ingredients
1 Tbs dry yeast
50 g sugar
1 tsp Salt
1 Tbs Each of fresh chives and rosmary
Pinch mixed herbs
20 g butter melted
1 Large egg beaten (save 1 Tbs for brushing)
250 g Milk
550 g Bread flour
sesame seeds
Directions
Place chives, rosemary, salt and mixed herbs in TM bowl.
Mix 5 sec speed 7. Set aside
Wash and dry bowl
Add butter and milk to TM bowl, heat 37 degrees, 3 minutes speed 3.
Add yeast and sugar, mix 20 sec speed 4. Let sit for 10 minutes.
Add egg, mix 5 sec speed 4.
Add flour and herb mix, mix 5 sec speed 6
Knead 2 minutes.
Let dough rise to double size.
Knead further 2 min.
Divide into 8 rolls and place on prepared tray. Cover with glad wrap sprayed with some olive oil to stop sticking. Let rise again to double size.
Brush with saved egg and sprinkle on sesame seeds (if desired) Preheat oven to 180, bake 20 minutes.
These smelt fantastic and are soft and very tasty.
Hope you enjoy.

They are CC, I ate one last night just with some tomato and really enjoyed it. I think as it was different to a plain white roll the flavor was great. I definitely will be making them again.

These look yummy. A nice change to the traditional roll, especially with some soup.

I tried these today but didn't have any herbs, so I used grated Parmesan instead. They were DELICIOUS!

I'm glad you liked them. I think that the herbs can easily be changed around to suit individual tastes. I am going to make some more of these tomorrow and see what else I can add for a different type of flavor. They are yummy.

I read somewhere (I think it was my breadmachine instructions) that the purpose of sugar in bread is to help the yeast rise? However, you can omit it if you don't like sweetness in bread, I don't think it would be too critical...
Love the addition of herbs in this recipe, would make a very tasty roll indeed!

I didn't taste any sweetness in the rolls Uni, but I'm sure this could be cut down or altogether without to much problem. I will try it next time
