Newbie with a twist

Hi 

As of today I am the new owner of a thermochef, not quite a thermomix. I mulled over a TMX for a while, awaiting the sale of my wedding dress, but alas it has not sold, so TC it is!

Im here to check out some recipes and see how they go in the TC. If anyone would like info on how it goes, feel free to PM me  Im currently in the middle of a masters and have a newly crawling little one to chase after, so I am unsure how much I will get to use it for a start, Im hoping every second day at least.

Welcome to the forum LS Mum.  There a quite a few TC users here. I ma sure that you will find everyone welcoming and friendly. When you start posting your own recipes just note that they are TC based so everyone knows if tweaking is needed or not.

Hi Ls Mum, welcome to the forum.  We have a handful of TC owners on here but some do post more regularly than others and I'm sure they will introduce themselves to you in due course. It sounds as if you are really busy with what you have on your plate but in your down time, you will enjoy playing with your machine and perhaps once you find out how quickly meals can be on the table, that time will increase. One of the TC owners recently came to one of our Thermomix classes (hi ES) and it was great to see her actively ask questions and join in the fun.

Welcome Ls Mum.  Actually one doesn't need to own ANY machine of this type to be on this forum.  I know of a few who are hoping to get one in the future and just happen to like the "atmosphere" here, which is warm and cozy, with members who offer advice and compassion and a great deal of encouragement.

Who knows?  You might just discover a great recipe that works well in the TC and can be easily converted to the TM and give all of us something new to try.

Welcome to the forum. I am a TC owner too. I bought mine in December and have used it almost every day since. You will find  that the members of this forum are really friendly and helpful. Most of the recipes will need little if no tweaking  for the TC. Here are my tips:
Generally, drop the speed by 1 level;
Reverse speed soft = butterfly speed 1;
Interval speed = knead;
Varoma temp = cook

I am having lots of fun experimenting with recipes and reading this forum. As Judy said, I recently attended Tenia's cooking class and came away with heaps of useful tips. I have bought her book and made the Rich Chocolate and Crio Bru Brownies yesterday ( yum).

Got right down to it already today, made our usual waffle batter in it and whipped cream in my other bowl. Then risotto for dinner, was a little gluggy, think I may have to reduce the amount of stock slightly. tasted amazing though, hubby went for thirds!!

Did you leave the risotto to sit for 5 minutes or so to soak up the excess liquid Ls Mum?

No I didn't, but I did notice that after I left some sitting in my bowl for a while to tend to the  little one, that it had absorbed more. I was wondering about that this morning too after reading a risotto recipe on here last night that left the risotto to sit in the thermoserver for 5 mins. Might see if I can find one on eBay, would definitely come in handy! Would yoU leave the lid on or off to help it absorb?

LsMum I leave mine in the TMX bowl for a few minutes before serving. This works fine for me.
