Quaker Oat recipes
« on: April 17, 2012, 11:53:04 pm »
I have a lot of quaker oats. There is only so much porridge & Anzac cookies I can make.

I am assuming they last  well past their date.

Any other recipes?

Thanks

H :)

These museli bars have become a favourite in our house, they use 100g oats and we replace the craisins with choc chips yummo!

Hally, I'm sure I have some vegetarian recipes that use rolled oats (savoury type loaf), if you are interested (non TMX).  I think Helene's Rustic bread loaf also uses quite a few oats (as in Helene of Super Kitchen Machine).

Hally,  just throw a handful into your bread recipe as you knead .   Make granola or Museli.

Some of the biscuit recipes I've put up have oats in them. I use a lot of oats.

I've recently made Tenia's Cranberry and Almond Granuesli which uses 4-5 cups of rolled oats. It was delicious and disappeared very quickly - I need to make some more.

I will try to post up my family recipe for Parkin which is a ginger cake that uses oats.

You can make Cyndis vegetarian sausage rolls and freeze them.

I always add a cup of oats to my Choc chip cookies - delicious!

And for any recipes calling for nuts - to make it school friendly I normally substitute sunflower seeds, still give it a little crunch but ok for school.

Bill granger does a sensational pear, oat and raspberry loaf in one of his cookbooks, great for a weekend breakfast. I haven't tried it in the TMX yet so sorry I don't have a conversion.

This is an old recipe out of The Amrita Cookbook put out by the Lotus Yoga Centre, Wellington in 1982

Cottage Cheese Loaf

1 cup cottage cheese
1 cup tasty cheese, grated
3/4 cup sunflower seeds
1 onion chopped and sauteed
2 cups rolled oats
2 eggs, beaten
1 tsp dill
2 tbs soy sauce

Mix all ingredients together.  Put into a greased baking dish, bake at 300 F for 1 hour.

You must have just about used up all the oats by now, Hally.
