Waiting, waiting, waiting!
« on: May 02, 2012, 12:51:12 pm »
Hi all,

Well, I took the plunge on Sunday and ordered a TMX!! A good friend of mine is a consultant and has been since about July or so last year. She told me all about it back then but the price totally put me off. Eventually, after cancelling about 3 parties, I had a demo and FELL IN LOVE! Ever since then I have dreamt of owning my own TMX. Last week my hubby said I can have one for mother's day/my birthday (which is in June)   :D How happy was I?!

Now I'm just playing the waiting game and hanging out for it to be delivered. Am hoping it will get here quicker than the approximate 10 working days. In the meantime I have been reading these amazing forums, saving recipes and working out what some of the first things will be that I will attempt.

My main reason for purchasing a TMX is for my children. My eldest has Coeliac Disease and my youngest has a high risk of developing CD plus has nut and egg allergies. I would also like to cut out additives from their diets. So I know that the TMX will be a gadget that I will use quite frequently. Am looking forward to cooking great GF food and getting my children to eat better (without them even knowing!)

If anyone has some great GF recipes that work well for young children that they could share, I would be extremely grateful! Looking forward to getting to know lots of you and becoming an amazing cook in my kitchen!

 :)

Welcome to the forum Busymummy, I'm like you and hate the waiting. But at least you will have time to be well prepared for when it arrives. :)

Hi Busymummy, welcome to the forum.  Brazen's blog is a good one to have a look at plus we have plenty of gf recipes on the forum. gf bread,
another gf bread, gf fudgy chocolate cake, gf apple cake.
These recipes and others can be found in the Special Diets section on the Home Page.  There is also a gf recipe book which you can buy from your consultant. You may find some suitable recipes for all allergies on Quirky Jo's blog as well.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on buying a TM. There are quite a few of us on the forum with food allergies and intolerances and the TM is a godsend in the kitchen for managing to eat well.

this is the hardest part where you are probably in two minds as to what you have committed yourself to. You are going to love the TM, and let us know how you go every step of the way. Its fantastic to share recipes for any dietary requirements such as those suffering from Coeliac Disease and to put forth so others benefit.

Lucky girl Busymum, your husband will be lucky too as he will get to eat all the yummy food.  I think the one thing we all have in common is our love of fresh healthy food, no preservatives.

Hi all,

Well, I have had my thermomix for approximately 9 hours. I haven't done a huge amount as I have already begun to run out of things! First I made the vege stock, which I'm hoping is okay. I then made 2 gluten free banana cakes, gluten free brownies, boiled and egg and attempted the gluten free pizza base for dinner (ran out of time to get to the butcher for meat!) The pizza base wasn't great so I'll have a go at tweaking it to suit us soon. So far a pretty good start I think.

Now I need to sit and read the recipe books and work out what I want to take to a BBQ tomorrow afternoon.....I'm sure I can whip something up!

Hope you've all had a lovely day cooking (or whatever you may have been doing!)

I'm sure you will find something to make for the BBQ Busymummy.  If it is a salad, the beetroot salad is really nice and is something a bit different to what others will take.
