food on bottom of thermomix concern
«

Hi all! My thermomix is about 5 weeks old. I am noticing a build up on the bottom of the bowl- I have cleaned and cleaned it, I have tried vinegar etc. I have a thermomix brush. I have also tried elbow grease and a soft cloth. How much build up is too much? Do you have any build up on the bottom part of your thermomix or is it spotless? I am working on the idea that it would be better to keep it spotless as this buildup will get harder to clean off but I am really struggling to clean it off. ANy other suggestions to remove this? Cheers Nicole

Did you do the one hour vinegar clean from the EDC? That usually loosens up any stuck on food at the bottom of the bowl. I find putting the bowl in the dishwasher easily gets rid of any stuck on food.

GP, I've had my original bowl for 3.5 years and have never had a build-up on my bowl. I make sure it is spotless after each time I use it and if need be, clean it with Gumption and a wet cloth or a non-scratch scourer. Occasionally I do the vinegar clean but it is not needed very often. Whenever I make the
Lemon Cleaning Concentrate
, it sparkles beautifully.
Here's a photo of my second bowl on the left which is only used occasionally and the original on the right which has been used constantly for all these years.

I just pull the bowl apart and use a bit of Gumption when it needs it.

I also use a little gumption on a soft cloth on the bottom of my bowl.
I've never done the vinegar one hour clean, but occasionally I put a tray of ice-cubes into the bowl along with a lemon cut into quarters, slowly work my way up to speed 10 to blitz the ice and lemon, then I set it on varoma temperature on a fairly low speed for around 7 minutes. The blades and bowl sparkle after this

I use the magic eraser inside my TM, I have never had any problem with burning. And both bowls are spotless inside still.

I give mine a bit of a scrub with a nylon scourer, after soaking for an hour in washing up liquid and hot water. (Don't forget to remove the blades first
)
Always comes up a treat.

I'd try the Ajax paste DG. On second thoughts, after reading Chookie's posting - forget it and just buy some Gumption.
