Judy,  i think the Ajax paste is rougher than Gumption.  Be careful.

Thanks Chookie, I have amended my posting.  It's been so long since I've bought Ajax paste I have forgotten the texture of it.

looking at those photo's too JD, one of my blades is very discoloured. Its not dirty, just nearing a blackish colour - but hey, its only about a 1 yo - they better not go blunt.

My original bowl's blades went dark very quickly CP but they are still chopping away quite OK.

My bowl goes in the dishwasher most nights nad that gets it pretty clean. Occasionally I scrub it with a scotch bright scourer.

My bowls go through my dishwasher. Also I soak and rinse after use & if there are any burnt bits I use bi carb soda. Both bowls gleam :)

I only put mine in the dishwasher if I've had a highly fragrant mixture in there, but yesterday after making the enchiladas recipe I noticed that the spices had discoloured the base.  I soaked it overnight and used Jif with a scourer this morning and it has removed it.  :)

Thanks,  I have not put it in the dishwasher,  but quickly fill with water after each use.  I use a lot of water but this is not a problem for us.  In the summer I put the rinse water on the garden.  About every 6 months,  I clean over with Gumption.  Never had a really bad stick on the bottom.

I never put my jug in the dishwasher either and it is now a bit dull, despite my attempts to make it shiny again.  I've also got a very dark build-up on the 'leading edge' of the pressed 'ribs' which run up the jug from the bottom to the top (the guides that slot into the white motor housing) - hope you can follow that.

The Magic Eraser would probably clean it off but I would prefer not to use these things since I saw all the health warnings associated with them.  Just bought some gumption so I'll see how that goes.

Marina,  I get that build up along the 'rib' things. I use Gumption on a non scratch scourer.  With a bit of elbow grease it comes off.  I think it is the water in the country that causes this build up.

Thanks, Chookie, I hadn't thought of it as being a country water problem.  I'll get on to it this weekend and see how the gumption works.

Thanks, wow what a lot of tips. Look I am concerned about mine- I havent had a "burn" or a disaster, but for isntance when I warm yogurt (eg milk for yogurt!!! Yeck, imagine warm yogurt), it sometimes sort of catches. I have a very weak wrist and no elbow grease so struggle to rub and rub with a cloth but I feel this is the best thing. I've done vinegar, I've done bicarb, but I haven't done the vinegarplus detergetn whcih I might try over night.... I shall report!Nicole

Just cleaned bowl with Jif and a non scratch scoured brush and it is gleaming again. Thanks for all your tips.
