BIg thanks to MM and Brooke after a lot of emails I have finally arrived to announce myself from the UK.
I was stuck in the door for a while enjoying thetips and recipes.
So great to meet such a community of real good cooks.
I am Droverjess, a farmers wife from the Uk. Always cooked and baked. Learnt about
about 4 yrs ago, only just found the money in staged credit card payments, interest free. So glad I did.
I have had my Thermy about 3 weeks and had quite a few adventures already.... Amazing soups, salads, cookies ( more on that later) and even some disasters....
Drowned Thermy with no seal in the lid oops, got chocolate on the ceiling thanks to chookwomans chocolate delight... Delicious but dangerous, think I need to change my method.
I have had failed mayonnaise from UK standard recipe book. Need help for a whole egg mayo if there is such a thing please?
Plus need a good cookie recipe for using my homemade stamp on. have made custard ones from the forum but with cornflour and they were good. Then tried Beatties recipe from forum, good cookies but think egg means they spread too much and loose shape. So ideas please for thebest stamped cookies possible.
Shall enjoying sharing it with you all.
pls excuse any typos as I have an iPad with strange predictive text!
Have managed to adapt one or 2 recipes and will try to post IDC. hubby away tmro for a night so may get some more experimenting and writing up done then.

Welcome, DJ, sounds like your are well on your way and settling down with your TMX. There are heaps of mayonnaise recipes here, I use a vegan one from Rainbow Recipes using cashew nuts but have made up a couple of egg ones in the past (not sure which recipe/s I used, though), but I am sure the more experienced cooks on here will give you a couple of ideas on the best recipes to try.
I laughed at your 'disasters', we've all had them at some time, so you are not alone. We have a thread on here which includes some photos of disasters, you should have a wee peek at that some time and enjoy the stories.

Hi DJ and welcome. Sounds like you are one of us already. You have done the good the bad and the ugly. LOL!
These IPads can be pesky things with the spelling, especially while tapping in bed. Don't worry about it and be sure to download Tapatalk for ease of use when putting in photos.

Hello DJ, welcome to the forum with such an informative posting. We all have our failures, thankfully rarely any these days but if you don't read a recipe correctly it could still happen.
Elizabeth's mayonnaise
is a good one, always works for me and
My Magic Mayonnaise
is a good one for coleslaw. The
creamy cashew mayonnaise
for vegans mentioned by Cuilidh is very nice too.

Welcome DJ, Hee Hee we have all had them, my first Mayo didn't work out either, but I have had success with it since. I use the one in the EDC book. Keep us posted on the antics....

Hi and welcome.
Gradually more and more of us Brits are happily joining this forum. I am sure that you will love all the recipes as I do.
Here is the mayonnaise recipe that I have been using for more than 30 years in various Thermomixes. It always works for me.
Mayonnaise
ingredients
2 yolks egg
1 tsp dried mustard powder
1 clove garlic
½ tsp salt
½ tsp white pepper
1 tbsp lemon juice Or white wine or vinegar
200 g sunflower oil
1 Put all ingredients into the TM bowl. Insert Butterfly and mix on speed 3 for 60 secs. During this time gradually add the oil pouring it on to the lid with the MC in place in a continuous thin stream
2 This will keep in the fridge for 5 days.
Servings: 10
Preparation time: 3 minutes
Ready in: 3 minutes

Forgot to say that while,making the failed mayo the mc kept bobbing up and down wildly... Like a boat on a stormy sea of oil, is that right too?
Thanks also for the beet root salad will make this weekend while DH away to,try as he thinks he doesn't like beetroot but I hope I can camoflage it! I know the colour is not easy to hide
!

Morning DJ and welcome from another proud TM owner from the UK. Re the mayo, I did read somewhere on the forum that one of the members half filled the MC with water to weigh it down a bit whilst making it. That does seem to help and what I do is transfer the oil into a plastic sauce bottle which control the flow of oil.
It is easier to make with a whole egg (there is a recipe for it under the mayonnaise recipe in Fast and Easy), but you get a much softer texture, which personally I don't like. You could also cheat
a little by starting it off with a tablespoon of shop mayonnaise which has never failed for me

That was the recipe in fast and easy that failed. Think too much oil 350mls.
Need to go food shopping before can try again, too busy on farm today!

Hi,
3350ml sounds way too much against my 200ml but I suppose it is what you have as the other ingredients. Don't forget that having your oil already measured in a jug or whatever is a good idea and keeping the cup in the lid in place and letting the oil drizzle through is good too. You will win in the end.
