Impossible Quiche pg 78 Devil of a Cookbook

Made this today for a quick easy lunch.

I was interested in seeing how the crust turned out. I am not sure where I went wrong but I didn't really get much of a crust, but there is one.

The recipe is very basic & I followed it 100%.

Lovely tasting, good for a quick lunch for friends or a picnic. Next time might add some spinach which I am sure would work well.

I do prefer my quiches to be taller, but still enjoyed this one.

For quickness you can't go past it.

Thanks Halex, I just received my book and was looking at this, looks quick and simple for on the go, and spinach would be a bonus, thanks for the picture, good to see what it looks like.

Enjoyed this recipe very much.  The flavour was intense, and it crossed my mind that maybe next time I'd add in some corn kernels.  Easy and I was happy with how it rose during cooking, but as it cooled it did settle.

Merlin, I think it was 23 cm.

I often make impossible quiches in summer. Great with salad and a piece of chook.
I also make a lovely vegetable slice which is easy too

My dish was 28cms, so might use a smaller one next time.

Froze some, so having a piece for lunch today.

I can't believe people who write recipe books don't give us the size of dishes, trays, cake tins etc - it makes so much difference to the finished item if the right size is used.

I agree JD. Also when making something like a jam - helps to know the size/grams so you can have the right jar or container to pour the mix into. Nowadays I'm also writing down what dish I used on the recipe to save me additional washing up.

That's a great idea re writing down dish sizes especially with cake tins and the like.  The amount of times I have grabbed a tin only to find it's too small or too big is ridiculous and as CP pointed out it only adds to the washing up, not to mention my level of frustration!

This has got me started on frustrations of cook books in general.  Some of the things often missing which I think are essential are, not only the above regarding sizes of cooking equipment but the following. I'm sure there are more but off the top of my head these are the only 2 which come readily to mind. 

1) how many serves - both as a main or as an accompaniment.

2) substitutes for items not readily available in supermarkets.  If none suitable then say so.

3) does the dish freeze well

4) can it be cooked or prepared in advance and reheated when needed
