Involved in hit & run
« on: May 15, 2012, 06:20:47 am »
The most important thing I was not hurt. :)

So all fine me wise. So no-one panic. For those that know me I dont like driving after a bad accdent yeras ago, this doesnt help.

Was hit by a 4wd ute, the driver mounted a traffic island to go through a red light. He swiped me from the back & up the side d my car. I heard this huge scratching noise, i looked to my side & this car was right by my side. The driver stared at me & drove off. I was at the lights stationary waiting for a green light. Luckily I have A VW so nice & sturdy.

Have lodged it as a hit & run on a crime report.

Now I need to get the damage assessed & I have to pay the $550 excess unless the police can track down the driver.

It has put me off cooking today :(

Oh No Hally, thanks goodness you are not hurt. :-*

Get the police to check out car repairers too.

Do your traffic lights have CCTV cameras.

Yes just in shock but no damage.

Good idea about repairers. I got the number plate, but they think it might have been stolen or the guy illegally driving.

I onky have a small vw golf, but its nice & strong.

Funny you should say about cctv, dh & I were only looking for cameras at this intersecton at the weekend but coudnt see any.

Alot of intersections that are bad for accidents in cairns have cameras.

I have CCTV cameras at work here, and it paid off for me when I had damage to my shop 2 weeks ago.

The police will run the numberplate in the system.

How horrible to be shaken up like that, Halex.  Damage to the car is inconvenient and I can well understand you don't feel like to cooking or anything else.  Well done to get the number in that state of shock.  If you are uninjured yourself, all's well that ends well.  Good to hear that much.  I was hit last month by a fellow who didn't want to stop but the man behind me got all the observations necessary to make for a smooth insurance claim.

Hally, that is awful. Thank goodness you weren't hurt. It gives you such a fright though.
At least you held it together enough to get the number plates.
Put your feet up and have a drink Hally.

glad to hear you are ok. At least you have a number plate number, so the police can follow up.  Hopefully they will catch someone.

What a nasty thing to happen!   . .by an equally nasty individual by the sounds of it . .Take good care of yourself Hally.  Good presence of mind to get the number plate, regardless of who the car belongs to . .  .I sometimes think guys like this have brains that have been fried - drugs, alcohol, whatever .  Thankful you're not physically hurt but the shock takes some getting over.  Hang in there and try to relax . . .

OMG Halex that is terrible. You poor thing. What a inconvenience. And I can't believe some people could even do such a thing. Obviously they don't give a  S**T about other people.
Glad to hear you were not hurt.

Good God, Hally, I'm not a drinker, but I think I would be having something a tad stronger than a cuppa tea if I was in your shoes!

What a terrible thing to happen.  Even though you were so lucky not to be injured in any way, it still give you a terrible fright and leaves you shaken for ages when something like this happens.  Well done on getting the number plate, at least that is a positive start for the police investigation.
