Recipes to lose baby belly (and weight from other areas)
« on: May 15, 2012, 02:33:25 pm »
Ok so 8 months on and I still have a baby belly that makes me look about 5 months pregnant.

I need suggestions on how to lose this. I'm thinking low carb recipes that you love (please don't direct me to things where I have to read a whole lot of topics eg "vegetarian" but rather recipes that you have tried and love)  ;D Possibly glutenfree recipes.

I would also love suggestions for healthy after dinner snacks. Is there such a thing?  ???

TIA

And I'm still breastfeeding so it needs to fill me up   ;D

Tasty, i know it's not to everyone's taste, but I swapped my breakfast for a green smoothie and increased my exercise but have changed nothing else in my diet including too much alcohol and deep fried foods and have slowly lost almost 10 kgs. This has been over 6 months so only slow, but I wasn't considered over weight to begin with, was just feeling uncomfortable and my clothes a little tighter, I feel so much better and for the first time in my life I've got an almost flat stomach. the biggest thing is making sure you are moving enough each day. I always found a long walk while the baby was asleep in the pram to be great when my kids were little.

Good luck.

I think we need to start a forum topic entitled "How to lose TM belly- not just baby belly"!!!!
Seriously (or maybe not!) if you're breastfeeding you don't want to lose too much weight too quickly.i didn't really change my diet- just did lots and lots of walking each week. Especially pushing a double pram with the twins up lots of inclines and at least one hour a day did the trick for me. Also, the kids were usually asleep in the pram most times so it gave me a chance to walk with my iPod  on -earphones only in one ear though .

Well I still have my holiday kgs to loose.

To be honest having the TM has made me eat more cookies & cakes. Never really made them pre TM.

The good news I can get my jeans on, the bad news I cant walk in them very well, LOL :o

I think its the old fashioned way eat less at dinner, no snacking & exercise more.

Walk when you can instead of taking the car :)

When we had our first 2 storey house up for sale, , we had home opens every weekend & private viewings, I hate to admit this but all the constant cleaning worked well.

The stairs are always good, we have storey now but the difference is or bedroom is downstairs.

H :)

I've been trying for 20 years to lose my baby belly, and now my TM baby has made my woeful effort even harder  :-)) I keep trying to come up with alternatives to exercise like walking the liquor aisle trying to find lower calorie wine - there is no such thing - so I keep walking and looking. Unfortunately, they kick me out before long and that ends my exercise for the day. I look in diet books but find myself coming back to my TM recipe books cos they look way more edible. I've tried reducing my dinner plate portions, but then I have to have dessert. The only thing I know that would work 100% is to gaffa tape my mouth.

Not sure many would like my diet but in the last 6 months have lost 8 kg without trying. Fostered 31/2 month old twins and a 21 month old. All you do is run all day and 1/2 the night. ( not as much now 6 months has past and they are a little older).  Still have heaps of treats to eat so it must be exercise that is the secret.

I'm in the same boat.  Last year I lost weight, but I have put almost all of it back on since I bought my Thermo Chef. My jeans are really uncomfortable at the moment. I have got out of the habit of walking in the mornings as it is so cold. It was only 4.5C this morning. I just can't seem to get motivated..

Lots of suggestions for exercise and movement but no recipes  :'(

I used to do the busy mum's fitness club quite well for a couple of months and then sickness and Easter came along....and that stuffed things up. I have started walking everyday - changed to the afternoons now with the cooler weather.

Although I see the benefit of exercise. I think it won't really help and didn't see results from that but did feel better and used more muscles.

I think my downfall is food...especially after dinner. So as lovely as all your advice is for excercise...I would really love to hear of alternatives that are healthier. But will also continue walking and try to fit in more exercise and cleaning more  :D (I don't have stairs so can't do that one)

Sorry Tasty, the only advice I have is to substitute/adapt recipes eg I use Philadelphia light cream for cooking instead of thickened cream if the recipe states to add cream eg beef stroganoff etc. I also use skim milk instead of full cream and try to use rice bran oil instead of butter. I also try to minimize using cheese and if a recipe needs grated cheese, I try and use the lower fat versions. I also avoid bries and camemberts if possible. I also try to use a lot of raw food and don't eat meat everyday, for instance I'll make omelettes or frittatas and LOTS OF SALADS instead (but no creamy dressings, just vinaigrettes- the only exception is the creamy cashew mayonnaise from Rainbow Recipes which has no dairy and tastes amazing). . In the colder weather I find making vegetable soups great  as you know what's going in to them and I avoid making "cream of -----" soups! I guess the only final advice is portion control- I have tried to reduce the amount on my plate and probably eat only a little bit more than my kids have on their plates. I know my only undoing  is the glass or two of wine I indulge in far too often!! I don't think that I use specific recipes per say for weight loss- just try to balance input vs output ie hopefully more of the latter than the former.
