I've had my thermomix for almost 3 months now and I have not regretted the decision to get one at all (I even won my husband over in the very first week with my almost manic production of meals and desserts!)

It's a machine that makes your cooking life so much more convenient. The main advantage for me is the time saving aspect of it from beating cakes in minutes to making soups in minutes with virtually no chopping. And the fact that you leave the machine cooking while you go and do something else. No more constant stirring at the stove top.  But there are so many more advantages you'll see from reading this forum.

The only disadvantage that I have found (and its minor for me) is that it does not make huge quantities, most meals recipes are for a family of 4 or 5. I'd like to have more to freeze for leftovers, but then hands on cooking time is so reduced with the TMX anyway that you just cook up an extra batch if you really need something to freeze.

thanks for that - I guess I was treating it like an exact science but I'll go with my gut a little more then 

 LOL I was thinking all these 'failsafe recipes' were for people like me who wanted something that was fail -safe i.e. I couldn't stuff them up.   oh dear 

 I am feeling a little more enlightened now I've read this thread !!!

oh dear - I was just saying to hubbie that it means we're going to be eating a lot more desserts etc cos its all so much easier!

He doesn't care about an expanding waistline  -
I , on the other hand, and being dragged out by a friend to do kickboxing for fitness of all things!!  - so not fair!! But worth it to be able to enjoy my thermomix

As for what I've named it ..... well, I'll have to give it some thought   What's yours called???

They live in Portimao - I've just told my my mum about the Portuguese version of this forum that I discovered while reading some older topics here, she's new to the whole internet thing so it'll be interesting to see if she copes with it all  !!!

I have just joined the forum and am waiting for my new bimby to arrive! My parents live in the Algarve and it was my mum that convinced me to get a Bimby.
I look forward to reading any recipe you post as I am particularly interested in Portuguese food!! My mum said she will send me some Portuguese recipe books so if you could recommend any good ones to start off with that would be great!!
