News about Thermomix / Re: USA Thermomix
« on: December 17, 2015, 08:11:10 pm »
Congrats to you Melissa! Some of us have been waiting YEARS to see Thermomix land for sale in USA  :) I can't wait to see our fave kitchen machine become more popular (across North America) as consultants like yourself master the challenge of educating Americans to this fun new way of cooking. WooHOO!!!

Hello CQLI -- If you contact me privately (through this forum or via my blog)... I may be able to help. (I'm based in Canada ) After waiting so many years, it would be great to get you up and running mixing :)

Bravo Judy -- It's a good thing I'm not there, or you'd have to bake another batch while I wiped the crumbs off my fat chin :)

Suggestions and Complaints / Re: Frustrated with buying process
« on: March 01, 2015, 09:54:22 pm »
Hi wonton124  :)
Like you, I am one who was never too fond of the buying process for this machine. And while I DO understand why it's done this way, I also wish for the alternative. I believe that the customer satisfaction rate is probably guaranteed when people have a bit of training on the machine but it's certainly not the way most of us are accustomed to buying.

I hope you can be patient and take some solace in the fact that you are now part of a group of amazing forum members and you will get far more than your fair share of free support if/as needed. Everyone who has commented on this thread so far has been spot-on with gracious and diplomatic responses and the most amazing thing is that they are not officially representing the company or the product. As I don't have time to drop in here very often, I can't say that I really know these women, but I'm pretty sure most (if not all) are not even Thermomix consultants. The generosity and commitment level among Thermomix users is never ceases to astound me.

Cost of a Thermomix, about $2000 AU ... cost an amazing bunch of forum members, priceless!

Cheers from Canada,

Thermoservers are aHmaaaZing!  :-* :-* :-* I wish I had two! I think that's a great incentive and recommend you dive right into the world of Thermomix sooner, rather than later. You are already a forum member, how can you stand to wait any longer ?  ;D

Salads / Re: ABC salad
« on: January 08, 2015, 11:34:23 pm »
I just love the simplicity of this salad acookwoman -- and the flavours are my fave! I was drawn into the post by the ABC recipe but then when I read  CC's comment about UPHOLSTRY class :o I had to put in a word. Wow! I am envious and in awe! I have a few chairs here that could do with a makeover, but the cost of hiring someone to do it is prohibitive. Likewise the time and energy needed to re-do them myself means I am sitting on some quite tired-looking furniture. Good onya CC, hope you post photos to show off your work.

oops, sorry for going off topic  ;)

Hi JudeVegan: Sorry to hear you found out the hard way that the Thermomix is still unknown in USA. Even here in Canada where it is available, our fave machine is for the most-part completely unknown  ???

I agree with CertbySea... A few years ago I did some research into this question and at that time I found a reliable supplier of the transformers who was also in New York (I no longer have the details on this supplier, sorry!) Basically it boils down to the same as what you've been told so far, it's not a matter of simply using an adapter. As I understand it, the difference is that with TMX you are driving a motor and also heating. With a bit more hunting around you may find a supplier or transformers that is in the area where you are staying. I would advise you download the specs for the machine from the Australian website (even better if you have the manual with you) and take the machine in to a local electrical supply shop if you can. They will need to see the numbers for what the machine is set up to do with the Australian specs in order to advise you safely on the conversion. Good luck and best wishes!

LOL Cuilidh, I wish! :D If it were my crystal bowl, I might be able to see into the future and know when TM5 will be sold on my continent  ;)

This has always been a great forum, but this thread in particular is fantastic. I find that each reply is more interesting than the previous! I love how all perspectives seem to be "spot on!" ... even the OT comment above about kids in Kinder, while off topic did make total sense and relates perfectly to the situation. As noted, this is such a reasonable and "balanced" bunch (more or less, as noted by Gretchen!), it makes for such an awesome support group. :-*

I'm watching things unfold from my seat in Canada which some people say is an enviable position. I can tell you though, that it too has its complications: demonstrators here have been told the machine is coming but no idea when. No month, no year even. :-)) With the overwhelming shortages in other countries it makes me wonder how they will ever get around to making them for the Canadian market. We are such a teeny tiny market, it's not surprising that we should come last, but it would be nice to know "when", so that consultants could tell their prospective clients something at least.

I'm a little bit surprised that Vorwerk is unprepared for the sales volume generated by the TM5. I read somewhere that there have been about 12,000 sold in AU in the first month. Is this surprising? I think not, given that most consultants a) need to get the new machine or b) want the new machine. And how many consultants are there in AU? If we do the math, these sales figures are not that surprising at all. (imho)

Thanks Cornish Cream, for mentioning my blog list of Thermomix sites!  :-*

And ElsieD, not sure if we've met yet, but I'm waving at you over there in Ottawa... all the way from Vancouver Island  :o :) :)

Hi Elsie! I for one am always thrilled to see more Canadians on this forum. Wouldn't it be great if the Thermomix could catch on in our country as it as elsewhere??? Oh, I see you are based in Ottawa -- do you also speak French? If so, I recommend you watch "Les Chefs" on Monday nights from Quebec... the young chefs are making some use of Thermomix on that show and it's fun to play "Spot the Thermomix" as we watch.

Cheers eh?!  :-))  ;)

Introduce Yourself / Re: Greetings from France
« on: July 23, 2014, 08:08:42 pm »
Bonjour Madame et bienvenue!!

Wonderful to see you here Madame :-* I've been wondering how you are faring in France and if you are now a consultant there... or still a consultant in UK, or maybe both (if that's possible?). I too am a big fan of your blog, though I rarely have time to comment these days as I'm usually "breezing through" while multi-tasking and trying to remember to breathe.

Great to have you on the ground in France so you can keep us up to date with all the news from the land where Thermomix is produced ;)  :o

This is lovely BZB... so gorgeous and so simple, can't wait to try your version. Also, I love the deco on your cake! Perfect for 15-year old Tim because reflects both grown up (strawberries) and kid-friendly (cookies) components. What a super job!
