Starters and Snacks / Re: Cheese & Bacon Puffs
« on: September 04, 2013, 11:02:50 pm »
I'm having a very duh! morning today... can someone answer me with pity and tell me if the bacon is cooked first?
I was thinking that if it's chopped up small it'd cook as the puffs bake... but now I'm second guessing myself! Help!

I'm  not really a fan of dark chocolate... How much do you think the flavour would change if I made it with milk choc instead?

Am making this atm but after checking the herb boxes found I have no coriander at all ! ~ so I'll be subbing with parsley and let you know what the verdict is after our picnic lunch at the park. My DD nearly 3 doesn't eat any orange veg so not sure what she'll make of it, my GF's twins may well devour it.  Oh, also using butternut squash as I didn't have pumpkin/sweet potato....

Edited to add:

neither of the three children liked it, but GF and DH really liked it so all good there :)

Hi Amy, thanks for that.

I don't have cornflakes or panko crumbs but was thinking I'd make the italian bread crumbs from EDC and use that instead?
Should still work fine shouldn't it?

I was wondering two things: a) has anyone tried these defrosted in the micro after baking then freezing? and b) If the chicken mince if fresh, not thawed, is there any reason I can't pipe shapes [nugget style] and freeze free style ?

Babies and Kids / Re: THERMO FRUIT ROLLS (ROLL UPS)

I am trying these right now.  Hubby bought an extra bag of grapes - not knowing I'd already bought some! - so I'm trying to do a grape roll up.  Initially I thought it would be too wet as it seemed very runny but whilst pouring it out I saw that it wasn't running all the way to the edge of my silicone mat.  As I only have one large silicone mat I've also put some in my dehydrator using greaseproof paper - dehydrator was bought 2nd hand so I don't have the "proper" mats for liquid products.  Our oven is gas so I've got it just under 120C with the door barely propped open with a tea towel. I'm curious to hear from anyone with a gas oven who has tried this regarding how far open their oven door was, thanks!
Will post a pic of the finished product :)

Hello everyone,
Thanks for all the lovely welcome comments - made me feel special (already am 'cause I own a thermie hahaha)!

My sister-in-law (SIL) was over the day it arrived and after we all went out for dinner I made custard for us all.  Both her and her DH (Dear Husband) raved about the "old-fashioned, thick and yummy" custard I made  :D

I've since made Ginger Beer which went slightly wrong as I used standard filtered water not bubbly water - oops!
Lime Curd - gave a sample to another girl friend who also has a thermie but hadn't tried the recipe ps my DH thought it was yum!
Sorbet - only lemon so far, but have some lovely fresh pineapples so will do that today for dessert tonight.
Easy Chicken Curry (off here) - very yummy, DH has said it can be added on to the favourites list
Zucchini & Rice pie - made with same GF (girl friend) and it was moreish
Date & Almond Brownies - made by GF previously mentioned, and wouldn't you know that you can't taste the dates!  My DD (Dear Daughter) who's almost three just gobbled some up ... now to hide some zucchini in it!  ;)

Oh, and for tonight's dinner I'm trying to decide between the Carrot & Coriander soup or Spiced Moroccan Tomato & Lentil soup from the EDC...

Phew, that's it for now.  See you around :)

Hi,
I received my Thermomix on Saturday (just in time for Mother's Day) and am super excited to have it in my kitchen.
Still debating naming it - currently thinking Manu as DH and I enjoyed watching MKR!
Looking forward to trying heaps of recipes and chatting to other "addicts" - ha ha ha!
