lol, I'm sure they're used to it. The thermomix is unbelievably loud now. I took the hearing aid's out when I started using the thermomix, I couldn't handle it. I'm sure it'll get better once my brain gets used to all of these new noises.

Thanks, JD. They're certainly taking some getting used to. I only have the volume at 80% of the correct volume at the moment, because it was too much to go to the full volume. The audiologist is going to put it up the rest of the way on Wednesday. THAT will be interesting. Things like flushing the toilet and turning light switches on and off are so loud - and the indicator in the car. Apparently I'm talking a lot quieter now, too.

Last week I bought the Breville Fast Slow Pro. I had the New Wave multicooker, but we didn’t get along. I had a lot of trouble getting it high pressure, if it didn’t get to pressure within its own time limit it would stop and the only way to get it going again was to release all the pressure and start again. I’m glad I bought this one, it’s great! I also bought a pineapple slicer that arrived last week. I make fruit salad to have for morning tea at work, but I hated cutting the pineapple up, and this thing makes it so easy. I’ve used pineapple corers before and they’ve never quite worked, but this one is really easy to use. Plus it has the slicer to the cut the pineapple up into perfect little pieces, and a container to store the sliced pineapple in. Very happy with it, despite its price. I’ve also unfortunately bought some hearing aids… Expensive little buggers, but I have no one to blame but myself. I’ve spent most of my life listening to loud music through headphones, so it was always going to happen. On the bright side, though, I’m hearing things that I haven’t heard for years – I didn’t realise how bad it had gotten.

I had a big cooking week-end this week-end. I bought a new pressure cooker last week-end, and made some lamb shank soup which was amazing. So I made some more of that and some chicken soup, the stock on Saturday and then the soup on Sunday. Both soups are delicious. I know it's not exactly soup weather, but they're great for work lunches. I kept putting off making the soup yesterday because I wasn’t really looking forward to dicing all the vegetables, then I remember that I have this amazing appliance that will chop all of vegetables for me, and decided that it didn’t really matter if all the vegetables weren’t the exact same size and shape! I also made some roasted butternut pumpkin soup, which is better than I remember. I made Trudy’s lemon muffins last night to bring to work, and also made Apricot Chicken Risotto from ‘The Annoyed Thyroid’, but I wasn’t very impressed with that.

I made these last night to bring in to work today. They are so easy to throw together, and absolutely delicious. I spooned the syrup over the muffins, but next time I might just gently pour it over - too much went to waste when I spooned it over the top.

That's the cheese I used, Kimmy. But with the vegetables, even though you can't taste them, it changes the texture, and because he's so sensitive to sensory input, it'll take some work to get him used to it. I hope that's what it is anyway. I would love to have a meal with vegetables in it instead of relying of V8 juice... :-/

We had Skinnymixers macaroni cheese with a twist tonight. I made it the other night, but DS didn't like it - the Parmesan was vey strong. So tonight I made it with just cheddar cheese. I thought it was beautiful, but DS didn't like it either. This time I don't think it was a taste thing, though. I think it's a texture thing. It feels very different to be Kraft one we would normally have.

Hi All,
I'm not sure if you will remember me, but I was a member a couple of years ago. I had to sell my thermomix, due to some 'unforeseen circumstances' and got all upset about it and deleted my account. I ordered a new thermomix last week, which should arrive this week some time so I thought I'd re-introduce myself :-) I've been stalking the forums for a while, as you do... I've also bought the Skinnymixer's cook books and will be buying a lot of spices very soon.
I'm a single mum to a now 6 year old boy with Autism (high functioning) and Sensory Processing Disorder. He doesn't eat a great range of food, most nights he has what we call '4 things' - we have a segregated bowl with 4 sections and he has watermelon, apple and cheese, and then each night rotates between chicken nuggets, fish fingers, sausage rolls, mini dim sims and SOMETIMES meatballs. He doesn't cope well with unprocessed protein, he chews it a few times and spits it out. Apparently I was the same as a child, so hopefully he'll grow out of it. He also loves the store bought Macaroni and Cheese (the Kraft Deluxe one, with the canned cheese sauce). He has promised me that he'll at least try the things we make in the thermomix. I'm hoping to at the very least to replace the frozen, store bought items that he eats at the moment with healthier home made versions, and he's very excited about helping me cook in it, too. He also drinks the V8 juice, and I'm hoping to get a dehydrator soon to dehydrate fruit and vegetables to turn into a powder and use as a cordial-type-drink for him as well. Truthfully, I wanted to the dehydrator to make Tenina's chicken stock powder, and I researched some other things I could do with it and that was one of them...
I've also recently finished my university degree (Bachelor of Technology) and I'm starting work next week as a software developer, so the thermomix is also going to be a godsend for getting dinner prepared of an evening, and getting everything else done.
