Chit Chat / Re: What are you been cooking today

I've just made eggplant lasagna using the TMX bolgnaise recipe.  Been a long time since I've made it, hoping it tastes as good as I remember.

If I get time I want to try the vanilla slice recipe on the forum.

I made this ages ago and it turned out fantastic.  Planning on making it again for a dinner party on Friday.  Going to use the left over egg  yolks to make Portugese Custard tarts.  Yum!

I read some where that once you've made it, freeze it for a couple of hours then re-blitz it and then refreeze and it shouldn't be so hard.  Unfortunately (?) we haven't had any left to try that yet.  Though the cherry-vodka one that we made didn't go too hard, possibly the vodka and also the fact that about 20% of the cherries weren't frozen.

Recipe Book Recipe Reviews / Moroccan Lamb
« on: March 31, 2012, 09:50:52 am »
I made the Moroccan Lamb out of the "Meat on the Menu" cookbook and I must say it turned out great.  My husband didn't want me to add the dates (he doesn't like fruit, especially cooked/warm fruit) but I decided I would.  He didn't even notice.

I may have added slightly too much honey, but still the result was great.

Introduce Yourself / Re: New to the forum

Not such an elaborate gift this year, a gift card so I can go on a shopping spree.  Last year was the year of big birthday spending for us since we now have an 18 month old girl and I've gone to part-time work.  I must say I felt the pressure since our birthdays are a week apart!

I'm not too adventurous in the kitchen.  I tend to stick to recipes and then maybe tweak them a bit.  Have tried converting one or two favourite recipes with some success.  Have visited the forum once or twice but had forgotten about it until I met someone at Tenina's cooking class who was talking about it.

Looking forward to being more involved!

Yesterday marked my one year anniversary of owning a Thermomix.  Sometimes I wonder how I used to live without it, hopefully I will never have to find out!  My husband surprised me with it for my birthday and we've been having fun ever since.  Best thing is that it has also excited him to try various things in the kitchen too, meaning I'm not always the one cooking!  I even have a friend who comes over regularly to make very imaginative sorbets in the Thermomix.
