The vit c powder is this one   http://www.hollandandbarrett.com/pages/product_detail.asp?pid=119
It is ascorbic acid.

Excellent. Thank you very much for that info.

DJ that bread looks lovely. When you say you used vitamin c instead of bread improver is that ascorbic acid or different? I'd like to try some bread without improver if I can. I'm hoping I get my new blades tomorrow.

Kyton, that all looks beautiful. Love the look of the pies and sausage rolls.

Oh wow. They look beautiful. I saved a load of whey from my yogurt making the other day. Do you think it would work the same?

Oh gosh, this could get dangerous. We bought the T2 jug I think you're all talking about with the fruitalicious blend (without having to scroll through all the posts I think that's the one you are referring to?!). I have used all the tea that came with it and now I read of others............!

Mammograms aren't an accurate diagnostic tool in younger women. Self examination is the way to go under 40yrs.

Yes, I was told that the mammogram would not be very accurate. Apparently it's because younger boobs are too dense and therefore a tumor cannot easily be found. That is why they aren't readily available for younger women - it's kind of a waste of time and money. I'm happy I was given an ultrasound too although it was very strange to be given one and not be looking at a baby on the screen!

We are so tempted by one of these. I love the idea of a tandoor.

HO told me stripping blades/blunting blades is the same.

Ah, right. I didn't mean to doubt you but what I was meaning to say was that the blade still feels sharp on my finger.

My sister was diagnosed with breast cancer last year at the age of just 42. As a result I had a mammogram and ultrasound done as a precautionary measure (I'm 37). It was explained to her that the fact she was so young was, believe it or not, a negative thing. When you are younger your body works faster which means that the cancer has an opportunity to spread faster. A mammogram really isn't painful at all and the lady that did it gave me full control of the procedure. She asked me to tell her at any stage if it hurt and she would stop pushing the plates together. It really isn't anything to worry about and I wonder why women put it off. I'd happily go for a mammogram and wouldn't dread it like a PAP smear.

I think CP has had this happen as well as others. This link may help. http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=12139.15
CP's comments are a little way through. Page 2 or 3 I think.

Thank you cookie for the link. I've now just had a chance to read it and I'm now even more miffed.

I can't fault HO for their service. New blades are on their way free of charge. My machine will only be two years old in April. But I, like CP, do not know how I've overloaded the machine.

I use it regularly but I'm not a huge user IYKWIM?  I'm still coming to terms with the fact that my main meals are quite literally useless and feel I cook much better the conventional way! I use my TMX as a tool with cooking rather than a tool for cooking. Yes, I grate cheese, I blitz a lot of ice I suppose (lots of juice but not really sorbet where there's loads of ice), I make bread......I don't know.....

I've joined a FB page called The road to Loving my Thermomix and her opening explanation as to why the page exists could have been written by me.  I think I found her just in time really! I was beginning to be brave and use it more for things I wasn't using it for. And now this.........

Brumington, it certainly sounds like you have stripped the blades i did the same thing last year but it was my fault for overloading the machine by making a double quantity of bread sticks even though I knew it was too big a quantity but I was in a hurry  :-[

Yes, absolutely, I think that's what's happened but I have no idea how. I was making the Vienna loaf which I make all the time so it can't be that. Is it that I've stripped them over the course of time by blending it first?

My blades blunted too, i make a lot of bread.

I don't think they're blunt. I think they're threaded.

Awwwww, thanks for the offer of help. You might be able to give me some ideas as to what has happened.

I have absolutely no idea what happened. Yesterday I started my day making ice cream and yogurt (again I was going to share an idea I have about stopping ice cream freezing rock hard which seems to have worked for me and hope it will for some of you). All was well. Then I went to make some bread and even though it was making the right sounds the dough didn't mix.

I have phoned head office and they were great. They said it sounded like the blades had gone on the grounds that it seemed the blades could still move around when there wasn't too much weight on them (liquids like ice cream making and yogurt) but not when anything heavy was on them. I tried making a smoothie today and it wouldn't even chop the banana. Head office are sending new blades express post and I hope to get them tomorrow.

I'm a bit blah about it all though. The machine isn't even two years old. The man said he was surprised it has happened and asked if I overloaded the machine. I can honestly say this has never happened as it was such a huge investment for us I was so careful to read the 'dos and don'ts'. I'm hoping this is all it is.  He also said that it can happen in restaurants etc when it is used extensively but is surprised it has happened in a home situation in such a short space of time. The thing is, I don't know what I did wrong to avoid doing the same thing again.  The ONLY thing I can think of is that I make bread a lot (probably one of the things I do the most) and always put it on sp 5/6 for a few seconds to mix the dough before going to the kneed function.  Do you think that has caused the problem?

Has this happened to anybody else?

Beautiful looking loaf.

Today I am cooking......NOTHING 😞.  Thermie died yesterday so i have gone on strike after pulling up my spoilt brat pants!

It's a shame because I was going to be brave enough to put up a new bread recipe but I wanted to cook it again to make sure about quantities etc before sharing.

I will live my cooking day through all of you........
