homemade milo is expensive to make to start off with, but health wise its so much better. Once you have bought all those nuts and things tho you can decorate home made bread and make lots of goodies.

Jude, yes buying meat in bulk is the only way to go. The chicken would have been about another $150, plus 1 piece of pork whch was in the freezer & I was shocked at the price of $28, which is why we have only had pork once in 6 months.  so over 6 months the real that  would have been per week woud be about $29 per week, which is really good as we meat every day. We do have the odd    veggie meal but not often & we dont do take outs. The males  here in this house want meat in some shape or form. I dont buy fish as I am alergic to it, so  its meat here.

I was over this week, DH decided to do some shopping savory shapes, nuts and chips when he went to get some milk, poor thing was missing his junk food. Lol. Total was $135.00 he did buy enough for a couple of weeks.
I am still saving heaps, I have a separate account that I use for everyday stuff, I transfer x amount into that account each fortnight last week I had $250 Left  I am was pretty happy with that as it usually down to only a couple of $ left. Hoping I can have the same or more left next week.
I child-proofed my house, but they still get in!

I am busted....
$240 spent instead of $140 for the week.
But I got about 12 kilos of chicken breasts in that on special.

so 16 meals of chicken breast, and 6 of chicken tenderloins, all bagged up, in the freezer.
 :)
always more when I take the kids.

But, I got a huge bag of mandarins last week for free, and more to come this week for free.

I am pleased to report I had a $0 shopping week - will do my menu plan for next week later and probably shop tomorrow if I get time.

Gert

I've been following this thread and also been amazed at how well you are all doing. I've been inspiried to try and make more meals with what we've already got in the pantry/freezer/fridge rather than buy heaps on every shopping trip. I didn't buy any buckwheat this week because I need to use up the quinoa and millet we've got in the pantry.

Small steps... ;)

Sorry Hally, just got on again....

Yes the chicken was free range $5.99 kilo (bargain)

I have bought sides / whole pigs every year for the last 10 years.

My house is 10 1/2 years old. so every year we do a whole pig / beef/ lambs ect...

I was looking at a pig,  but wondered what you would get on a side. Bacon, roast, sasages, mince, what else?

Fantastic price for free range breast, the best  I can do is $9.99.
