Thanks JD - and next time I will wear gloves as well! I cleaned the walls today without gloves and it has peeled the skin off my palm. Powerful stuff!

OUCH!  Hope the damage to your hands isn't too bad - you only have two hands, so take care of them.  I haven't been wearing gloves when I've been using the spray, I think I will start wearing them from now on.

I haven't had gloves on either. But I did notice the first time I used it when I cleaned the tiles that I got a crack in my thumb which was quiet sore for a few days. Better wear gloves as well I think

I think the problem is that, because we make the product ourselves from ingredients we have lying around the home, we don't realise that the combinations can be caustic and harmful to us in some way.  A good lesson to be learned here!

I was cleaning the shower a couple of weeks ago, and I saw steam coming off my fingers. I don't know whether it was the vapours, or the cold day. Gloves might be the way to go.

Has anyone reduced the amount of washing up liquid in this, or played about with the quantities in general?

I like my lemon eucalyptus smell.

The brand of dishwashing liquid I used was "Fairy" and I'm quite happy with this.

Want to try this but not that fussed on the eucalyptus smell. Does the oil contribute to its cleaning abilities or is it just the smell? I have some other water soluble oils so was thinking of substituting these. Has anyone else tried this?

Twitterpated, I THINK that the eucalyptus oil has some antiseptic properties in it which would explain it's presence in this spray.

I think eucalyptus oil does help with the cleaning but would think that it would still work well replaced with something else. Worth a try I say.

Eucalyptus oil by itself with hot water is a really good de-greaser. I think it probably is an essential ingredient.

I used tea tree oil instead, and it is working well. I sprayed it on my DS's very dirty windcheater, threw it in the washing machine and it actually came out clean.
I've stopped using it as a regular floor wash ( diluted in hot water) because it was taking too long to dry.
