How's your booze cupboard after that storm, Cookie?

Cookie, that is not nice. We have got the wind today. Ral said, ‘ it would blow a dog off it’s chain’. Think it is an old farm expression. The Chooks are ratty. Bit like school kids on a north wind day.

Feeling your pain Cookie - I know you don't do well with wind storms.

Morning all.
Today we will enjoy the quiet. This seems a strange thing to say when we are in isolation but we have been very busy. As Ral said, we are very lucky. We have plenty to do, family , neighbours and friends keeping in contact. Deliveries of essentials . Rals platelets are on the move up again. Ever so slightly but in the right direction.
No so very cold today.

Great news about Ral’s platelets every little rise counts.
You will be surprised that I resisted the Port the other night. Normally I would have had 2 or 3 at least. But since being diagnosed as diabetic I have tried to be braver. If we had been away in the caravan I would have succumbed for sure.

You are a very good Cookie not to give in to temptation.
Michele, a project while in iso is good.
It has been raining heavily. We love the sound of the rain on the tin roof.
We are waiting for a delivery from a local small goods local. We have ordered some pork belly, pork loin, ham, and sausages. We are trying to support locals in the hope they will survive the shut down.

Well done cookie, I always think of you on stormy nights.
Good news for Ral Chookie.

I had a very sad encounter at our shop yesterday and I think I may regret the end of it for a long time.
We are working to appointment only at the moment and, as we had someone in the shop, when I saw another guy standing at the door I went out to see if I could help him. He was an Indian student, part time gig delivery driver asking if we could give him a job. I had to say no as we are battling to keep our own staff employed, and I was nearly crying when I said we couldn't offer him anything, he was almost in tears. My big regret is that I didn't turn around and go and grab some money from my wallet to give him.
My nephew is doing his phD on gig drivers so he has spoken about how hard they do it, I am so sorry I didn't help.

Don’t beat yourself up over it Marina although I understand your feelings. The poor chap is at least trying to find work and hopefully somewhere along the line he will gain a job of some sort. We really don’t know how people are coping, there must be many more in the same position.

That is so sad Marina. He is being marvellous and going out trying to find work. Good on him.

Happy Mothers Day. Wishing all the mums a lovely day.
Marina, it is so sad to see people out of work. I think it will some time before things get back to normal.

Happy Mothers Day from me too!
I saw this this morning. I wouldn't have thought of doing this with avocados, seemed too delicate, but freezing for an hour before hand makes sense. Would be nice to have access to one or two during the colder months. I'm going to give it a try.

Also this seeded bread seems worth a try too.

Happy Mother’s Day from me also.
Marina, I know how you feel. This is an awful situation for many people. We can try and look after the people close to us but it is these ‘ fringe’ people that I also worry about.
The man who delivered our Smallgoods order, thanked us for the order.
Julie, thanks for the Avo link. I will certainly do this. Bread also looks interesting.
Very cold this morning. 1 degree at 7 am, 2 at 10.
Breakfast in bed. Poached egg on toast with tea.

DH is still in hospital as the doctors cannot find the bug that is causing all the problems. They are giving him some broad spectrum antibiotics until they find the bug. He was looking much brighter this morning when I saw him and was able to get up and shower and then sit in a chair for a short time. Still not been given a date for when I can bring him home.
