I hope things work out very soon for DJ & her dh.

I have never been in a situation like you Maina, it would  be very hard, I am sure it gave you some great life skills & made you a stronger person.

Will be interested to find out what machine it is goldfish.
Anything is worth a try  ;)

Hi MF - sorry to take a while to answer this. Spoke to my friend and her husband last night - Initially, his assessment indicated that he stopped breathing 47-50 times during a 60 minute period.  Since using the machine, this has now decreased to around 4.  The ultimate goal is, of course, zero.  He said that even though he woke fairly refreshed, this didn't last long and it didn't take much to wear him out. Much better now.  Friend says she is sleeping better, too :D

The machine he uses is the Fisher & Paykel Icon auto       http://www.fphcare.com.au/sleep-apnea/cpap-devices/f-p-icon-family/

Yes, Amy - this one is a C-PAP machine also

DJ - really pulling for you!!  Things are bound to turn around for you soon!!  I can fully understand your DH's frustration.  I certainly hope he finds an employer soon who has the common sense to see what an asset DH would be. . . .

Interesting story Marina. We forget how much it costs  just hunting for a job. Many of us have been there .

Reminds of of the Monty Python Four Yorkshiremen sketch "We were so poor".  The script is here.  Always good for a laugh.

http://cmoore.com/funstuff/humor/mp.script.weweresopoor.php

Many years ago I lived for weeks on a huge jar of peanut butter and bread. Some days I had no bread. Didn't kill me. One memorable Christmas I ate dinner in The Waldorf Cafeteria  in the poorest part of town. It cost $1.99  and a few of us were scraping up the dosh to afford that!. Probably the best Christmas lunch ever. No competition. No feuding family. No spoiled brats. No drunks. Well maybe there were a few drunks. LOL!

Thanks MF and Cuilidh.

We are not THAT bad thanks. Your experience sounds horrendous, and I am glad it didn't last too long.  We are ok. The main thing is not knowing how long it will go on which is why we are so very very careful. 3 months has already gone very fast.

Thanks for all your suggestions I think I might try the cashew one, with various things i have in the fridge and substitute almonds.

Will see tmro. DS would grumble not enough meat but as we have a friend over, he won't!
For pudding I will probably make Trudys impossible lemon pie.

The more we think about it the more we think we must build a business of our own using our very varied skills from bread making (think upmarket b and b) to machinery maintenance, consultancy, horticulture and agriculture. That way we rely on ourselves and and each other and a ruthless employer can't do this again to us. Our friends and family are also beginning to say this is right as well.
I have written today to various respected gardeners asking where the niche might be that we could fill if we ran a plant nursery. We've also asked an expert for his opinion of our ideas.

It feels so much better having a plan, even if this one is not quite right, there will hopefully be others..
You all help keep me strong, and pull me along on the bad days. What an amazing consequence of getting my Thermy. So glad I did for so many reasons and just as well considering.
I still haven't found the spare  *: jug,  and think it must be in store! Bother!

LOL Gert. Our Xmas was like that last year. Kids away, so first year didn't cook turkey ever. We enjoyed having a fillet steak and pleasing ourselves. Think it'll be just us two again this year. That'll be fine. Hopefully by next year normal service will have resumed. We did have all 5 children in December and January, just not on the day itself.

Hello
Suggestions please

Leftover chicken from roast

Got onions, potatoes, carrots, leeks, tomatoes, mushrooms, sweet corn, herbs spices, garlic etc

Sour cream and/or coconut milk

Wondered about quirky jo's  recipe with rice but can't find it. All other suggestions considered.

Thanks in advance
Lunch tomro with friend

Ooh, I would do JD's chicken tart she posted in non thermomix recipes.  I've been dying to try that!

Night Jess. :)

My Mum always has said.

Find your passion, then work out how to make money ( a business) from it.
Then it does not seem as if you are at work. :)

So many possibilities are there, just grab them and go with the flow.
Bread making sounds great, to local shops, B&Bs..

My Thermomix,  Kitchen Aid, Pizza oven, Nu Wave 5 in 1, Spatulas, all brings love, laughter, happiness, and great food  to my kitchen.

Hello again.
Not sleeping, wonder why!

Actually bread on that scale Robyn would be too much. But fresh bread fr breakfast in an upmarket B and B ( two rooms) is doable.

Currently researching everything insurance, business rates etc etc. have friends who do B and B, actually had one who was a baker to markets, but she gave up as no margins in it.

Would prefer agriculture, but can't afford enough acres and too old  t be tenants, plus rents are high. Horticulture base with add ons seems next best thing.

A lovely B&B  with nursery attached sounds wonderful DJ . .who knows - but it just might be the thing that is waiting for you.  Could you do that where you are now?

LOL, not really.
We did have one person coming when we first moved here, but then she didn't come. Just as well really as she'd have had to dodge boxes! I knew her anyway so was not a 'real' customer.

Thanks anyway.

Found 3 chicken breasts in freezer so will check ingreds to make QJ chicken meal.
Can have chicken pie tomorrow.

Jess, it will work out, believe me,  :)
sometimes the pain we all go through, is needed, so you can come out a better person at the end.

I have been in tough times, and always been better after coming through it.

Its hard and tough in retail at the moment, even for tradies, but we will come through it, and be stronger for it...

at the moment, phones are ringing, which is good for us..
