That's great news DJ, hope you have a great day with the children.
I child-proofed my house, but they still get in!

DJ  our family was in a similar situation but work wise completely different.
We almost lost everything that we had built up from starting our own business in 1985 until around 2001
Circumstances out with our control led us to believe that our business was going under. My DH was under so much stress that he was hospitalized. We put our home on the market to release money and decided to buy a country property which would give us capital to sink into the business. Very scary with 4 children to support and no guarantee of succes. At that time we also had 2 little grand daughters whom I looked after to enable their parents to work. Their dads both worked in our business which made it worse as everyone's income came from the same source so they all  moved  in with us to save money. 10 of us in the house wasnt easy but we managed. I sold my car and went everywhere by foot taking the kids to and from school, sport etc. We cut back on food and lived on the basics which did us no harm at all.  I didall the cooking and general house duties as well as taking care of all the kids. We had to be very frugal but we still had enough basic food and enough love to keep us strong. This went on for a number of years but in the end our luck turned around and we prospered. Now we are very fortunate and business has progressed and our company has expanded. What I am trying to say is that sometimes we have to sink to the pits to prosper and then appreciate the fruits of our labour. We went below the pits Jess but because of my DH and sons we have made a success of our business. I will never forget the hardship and can honestly say it has made all of us much stronger. Hang on in DJ ad you will pull through and life will get better. Sometimes for no reason we have to experience hardship to appreciate the better things in life. It makes us strong. We are here to support you in any way we can DJ. This forum is amazing and gives us all friendship. help, love and support. Sorry for rambling on but I have been where you are now and know you can bounce back  :)

MF, Gert, DJ - I am comforted that there are those of us who have experienced very similar hard times.  We do come out of these lows, but it does test us!

DJ, if you go forward with your B&B, had you thought of having your own chooks - I think breakfasts featuring fresh free range organic eggs from the coop in your backyard, along with fresh home made bread and, if you have the space, fresh produce, jams, etc. from your garden would be a huge draw card for you to advertise.
