I hate to say this but I have no trouble sleeping unless something big is really worrying me. I go out like a light and need an alarm to wake me.

Well, those two enormous old gum trees in our front yard came down today . . . it was sad to see them go, but I felt a wave of total relief when the arborist informed me that one of them had dry rot right through the base.

I was looking out the window, saw some of the pieces on the ground and thought how quick it was that they'd begun working on the trunks . . . not a chance - these were actualy some of the boughs!!  Huge and weighed a ton!!!

They mulched the foliage and left that for us for the garden, cut up the rest and put out the call for free firewood - and by 5 pm it was all gone!!!  Amazing recycling and extremely professional - and helpful!

One guy even went home and brought back some offcuts from a job he'd done previously that will serve perfectly for the chickens' new roost.  And he's promised to drop in some seeds for our new veg garden.  He took home some clumps of oregano to plant in his garden and  some just opening roses  for his wife.

For morning tea/coffee, it was Chookie's Belgium Lemon Teacake, Amy's banana biscuits and some Magic Bean Cake ;D ;D
It was, "Hey, guys! Look what we've got!!" ;D ;D ;D

If anyone in or around the Northern Beaches area of Sydney needs this kind of work done, I'd be only too happy to pass on the contact details along with a first rate reference!!!  Very happy this job has at last been done - and done so well!!! :D

Sounds like a good job done GF, better to have them come down in a controlled manner and you don't have to worry when a storm comes through.  I believe tomorrow will be a bad day weather wise for people in the Sydney area tomorrow, take care everyone, will be thinking of you.  Raining here at the moment, wish I could send it north.

Gum trees are so messy GF, you won't know yourself without all those falling leaves let alone worrying about boughs falling on the house.  A good job done I say and thank goodness your council allowed you to have it cut down.

I wake up by 4am, most days.

Me too Obbie.  I have my fitbit set to wake me at 5.30 just in case I'm still asleep, but that hasn't happened for months!  I get up about 5.45 and go down to our local beach and do a 3.5km walk along the boardwalk every morning, I so love it.  I quite often get to see a couple of dolphins that come in to shore to feast on the fish.  It's such a special time of day, I don't think I could give it up now for anything.  :D

No more nasty wind noises in the night GF.

JulieO the early morning is a beautiful time of day. Sadly when I am home I refuse to get out of bed. On holidays I don't mind.

That's good CC.
Just making bacon rolls for lunch, we have the dog trainer coming at 2, then off to look at curtain track and buy paint for DD room.

We've had more rain too.... Squelch it is...

Hello again, am modifying previous post as no one else has posted. You must all be sleeping well today.

DH brought fish n chips for tea as we've had no electric all day and Aga too cool to cook on. He is hacking off more plaster as we speak....
Bought some paint today. Might start DD room on Thursday. Nothing else to do in there except carpet when all done.

Dog trainer very helpful.... Pup was an angel..... Will be. Going to new classes from next week on a Thursday in the open air. Got to do recall whistle training at mealtimes for next 3 weeks and a lot more on a line.... She thinks he'll be terrific in the end.... But she says it will a lot of work. Ah well never one to pass up a challenge.

CC we have even more torrential rain tonight.
