Well this was a lovely way to finish the day. Just  had a phone call from someone I had trouble understanding but the gist of the conversation was that unless I gave him money he was coming to my house, did not wait for the rest, I hung up,  knew my name and  my address.    I had  heard a few weeks ago  that some people were getting text messages threatening them with death unless they paid up.

I think the pepper will be fine Gert. I use my nose and tongue to tell me when to throw stuff out. If it is in the freezer it is good, no matter how out of date it is.

MIL was the best for keeping stuff of ever. When we cleaned out her house we found eggs in the cupboard that we so old that they had gone past the smelly phase. They were simply dried up on the inside. Some of the cans had burst and others had puffed up on the top and bottom. Those things were out of date. In fact quite a few we're from before date stamping came into being. Gotta luv 'er.

Marie how absolutely terrifying. Are you going to advise the police? I would. Please take care.

That is funny. Imagine eggs like that. You did have the common sense  though to toss it! You did not need the government to tell you .

Pretzels from my Secrets of a Jewish Baker Cookbook.

They look great! Glad I could be helpful.

I have ordered a copy of  Secrets of a Jewish Baker Cookbook Gert, looking forward to getting it.  ;D  Sounds like there are a lot of nice recipes in it.

Cookie, I won't bother the Police, think they have enough to do.  Apparently they target the elderly.  If the calls continue I will get Telstra to put a trace on the phone.

Emme you will like the book. Not fancy schmancy and  no photos just a humble baker telling you how do make it and every recipe works. If you have trouble working out some of the Americanism just ask me.  Most of it is pretty simple .

Emme, the horrible caller probably got your details from the phone directory. Had a similar call when we first started living in oz. My boys were very young then, and I was terrified. Had to call a friend to accompany me. We made a police report when DH came home from work. Fortunately it was a prank and nothing happened.

The pretzels look very yummy, Gert.

These type of phone calls worry me when the recipient is older and takes things at face value Marie.

That is very frightening Marie. Take care.
Great pretzels Gert. What's the use by date on them?? Just kidding. Love your soapbox moment and agree with it all. After all, we have eyes and noses for a reason.
