The fires are terrible. Tell your DH to stay safe Bedlam. Both roads from Bunbury up are closed. It's dreadful as I've just heard Harvey is being partially evacuated as well. Last time I dared to look it was 41 degrees.
The fires were started by lightning. So dreadful things.

The cupcake toppers are awesome! My 40th was just recent (2014), but no one was going to give me a party, and I was swamped at the time studying, so it was a non event.

Fires still out of control here in the west. One small town called Yarloop has all but been burnt out. So devastating for those close knit communities.
My SOn in law's Nana is still in Perth waiting for news on her home in Preston beach (one of the fire zones).
The gusty unpredictable winds are the major problem for fire fighters today, my Sister lives 1/2 by car further south and yesterday had ash and burnt leaves blowing in their yard.

The fires are truly dreadful. As you said Katj poor Yarloop has been almost wiped off the map. There were some historical workshops there too. I have friends whose families are at Cookernup and Coolup. I do hope your SIL Nanna's home is ok. A real worry for her.  Thank goodness she was out of it.
The wind has sprung up again and I have concerns for the towns down there.

Awful situation indeed. My daughter has just got home, feeling relieved.
Then lightening struck the refuge in Pinjarra, poor people must feel chased.
Steamy today but hopefully the rain stopped some ember fires.
Take care all.

I on't think there is enough rain coming with the thunder at the moment which can be a concern. We got loud thunder in Perth and a few splodges of rain that dried in an instant.
This morning I hung the washing out, had a shower and then took my towel out to the line to hang out and the washing was already dry.

The fires still aren't under control. Nasty. 58,000 hectares burnt. There was fire just south of us this afternoon. A friend was out and said he saw the lightening strike and then immediately the black smoke go up. There was 1 home destroyed.
I do hope they get them under control soon.
