Good morning everyone. I feel for the poor Telstra workers who have to work out in 40 degree heat fixing the cable problems so we just have to be patient. Enjoy your day and stay cool, this is when I could quite easily swap temps with you Denise.

July it is a long time to be without your landline. I'd try for a refund on your rental. They can only say no. My brother asked and they reduced his rental by the number of days he was without his landline.
Take care in the heat folks.

Good Afternoon.
That's a good idea to ask for a refund. They shouldn't charge you for a service they can't provide.

It's been hot here again today, too.
DH has been doing battle with a massive patch of invasive periwinkle over the past five years ... slowly but surely, bit by bit, he is beating it but he is out in this heat every day working at it. He is more tenacious than the periwinkle! He is on the last bit now but won't be able to knock that particular bed out before we have to go back to work on Monday.
I have just picked a couple of kilos of plums from the orchard - not all ripe (I am hoping they will ripen off the tree), but I wanted to get to them before the birds do. We've got a great crop of various plums, apples, pears, quinces, crab apples and grapes because of the wet spring we had - this is the best harvest we have had in 7 odd years.

I'm told they will automatically make adjustments to my next invoice so we will see if that happens.
I had to look up periwinkle Marina as I've never heard of it as an invasive plant. DH must be doing a great job. I have planted many a vinca plant over the years and apparently the periwinkle is a species of that plant. The vinca however isn't a problem in my garden.

Your fruit sounds lovely Marina. Do you have to worry about fruit fly there?
Like Judy, I had to check Periwinkle on Google. DH is obviously very determined to get rid of it.

No, we don't have fruit fly here (yet) Cookie ... I hope we never do. We do have coddling moth which is a pest.
Periwinkle is, in fact, a very pretty flower but it seems to just go mad here and is very difficult to control / eradicate. Apparently it has been a problem on this property for many years. Funnily enough, it is still sold in nurseries and doesn't seem to come with any warning of it's invasive nature.
Going to be another scorcher here - not as bad as Adelaide, but bad enough. Tomorrow is our last day of our holiday - back to work on Monday.

Very hot night here and very hot day.

Hi friends.
A foggy morning here. It was very muddy underfoot walking Chance today. He came back lagged in mud.A quick wash with the hose and he came up clean.
Stay cool friends in those high temperatures you are experiencing.

Morning all.
Stinking hot night at Cherokee. This is most unusual as we normally get a cool breeze over night here.
However all was not lost . We remembered we had a portable cool air conditioner in the shed.
Woodend Market yesterday. Took bags of Chai Pizzellis, got a mixture of plants and seeds, also a large bag of cherry plums and some red currents.
Had lunch at friends who made a beautiful cold pea and basil soup. A Donna Hay recipe.

It is still pleasant over here in the West however the heat is back next week. We also usually get a lovely breeze and miss it when it doesn't come. We had hoped to resist putting in an aircon. I'm doing a tally of how often I would desire one( twice so far this year!)
