For the first time in 35 years I will not be cooking a large family Christmas lunch. Some family members will be in Qld and DD is going to do her first Christmas lunch at her place. I will still do a small roast for DH, DS & GS. If I am honest I am not sorry to retire from the stress and hang up my apron.
I know how hectic things will become at DD house as she will be working so I offered to make my vegan GD her main and dessert and DD will come down and get it during the week.

I remember when I took over from Mum. I guess it's called progress. It will be nice that you don't have to deal with it all Mab.

Handing the baton over after competing your years of service to the family Margaret, I’m all for it. Now you can become the kitchen hand to guide your DD through her very first time. I hope it all goes well for her.

I guess I am lucky in a way that I have never had the responsibility of preparing a big Xmas dinner - before I was married, and just after, our enlarged family always got together at one home or another and all the women brought a plate then after those years DH and I were traveling and, without children, Xmas was not really a special day. These days we just join our neighbour for a light evening meal and have a lazy night at home.

A sensible idea Marina.
I always thought that everyone bringing a plate was a very personal thing to do and regret that it doesn't seem to be as common over recent years. I can still remember bringing plates to weddings as well (and everyone admiring everyone else's crockery!), everything was that extra bit more special because of it.

Well done Mab. Support your daughter she will appreciate it.
Xmas lunch at DD. She will do salads, DIL will bring RTE baked salmon and we will supply the rest. I have to admit to buying a lot of stuff. Even bought a Pav.
I’ve ordered lots of Croissants and bread from the French shop in Creswick.
Ral goes into hospital for the day on Thursday. He starts a new Chem programme of pills. This is the second stage. He said he feel good but energy level, not good.
Considering we didn’t think he would see Xmas , this is all very good.

I’m pleased that Ral is feeling ok. You and he will need to sit back and be waited on for Christmas this year Chookie.

Best wishes to Ral as he starts this new treatment regime. He is sounding so positive.
Well done for accepting that, just at the moment, you cannot do everything, you must adapt your routine as you need to because you have to look after yourself as well.

AWW have just published a new soft cover cook book. Ridiculously expensive at $16, but had a couple of recipes that looked interesting. Called Grazing Platters. Think this will be my Xmas pressie. Ral is buying a new mop head. That will be his Xmas present.

You got the best deal Chookie unless you mean that Ral bought you a mop head for Christmas LOL

Yes, I certainly miss the forum if it’s down.
I love you Christmas gifts Chookie. Both extremely useful.
