Thanks all for good wishes for DD's exams, I'll pass them on.  :)

Cookie, this teacher is one of a kind and I hope to all get out that she is not here when Miss 12 is in year 11 and 12. I will have words!
This teacher would start the lesson saying that as yr 12's they were all sooooo stressed and so they had to play little 'de-stressing' games. ie, stepping stones, jump into hoops, etc. very very childish and none of the kids could figure out what to do. They just wanted to learn English! She would explain things one way and then tell them they were wrong when they answered qu's and told them another way.  ???

I could go on and on about this teacher, but it would fill pages and pages.  :(  Needless to say she is not well liked and I even heard one of the kids at the graduation ceremony saying " I've gotta keep Grandma away from Miss... or she'll throttle her"

DD found a website on how to answer exam qu's, passed it around to all her friends in her class and they all came back to her saying "I've learned more from that web site and reading it for 10 minutes than what I have this whole year in English!"

Anyway, rant over!

Gert - I just found termites in my hay shed eating the timber pallets I have my hay on. What a mess. I have sprayed with termite spray and off to get more pallets today. Will spray them before I lay them down. Wish I could afford to cement my hay shed. That'd fix 'em!

Obbie, good luck with sorting out the bullying issues. Each school has different ideas, but stick to your guns. Thoughts are with you :)

Wolfgang is doing a splendid job and luckily the termites were in the frame only . The timber was treated too so they are amazing  critters.

Wow Gert that looks terrible. thankfully we've never had to contend with termites where I live.

Robyn, all the best sorting out the bullying. We've felt in the past that the schools policies favoured the one doing the bullying rather than the victim. Unfortunately we never got much satisfaction working with the school and to this day when ever I see the child who bullied my DS in primary school I still can't get myself to be friendly towards him.

 :o What a mess Gert.  :o

Obbie, my miss4 didn't want to go to pre-kinder today as last week one of the other children had slapped her across the face. The teacher had told me it had happened and she had sorted it out on the spot, so that side of it was all good...just needed to persuade her to go and the teacher had to use plenty of diversion tactics too, not what we need in her first term of staying without me.  :'(  Not nice to think of bullies. One thing that did really annoy me is that certain child's mother knows it happened but has not made an effort to apoligise or anything - and her child was slapping people (even the other parents  :o :o :o :o ) today and she never once told him off. Grrrrrrrrrrrr.  >:(

Best wishes to all with hubby illnesses and exams etc.  :)

Oh and today I have been run off my feet busy same as about the past week or more.....life has been hectic. A few unexpected illnesses (not in our own direct family thankfully) but BIL in hosp in Sydney, and other things all thrown in at once has made everything topsy-turvey for everyone! Feel like the only time I get to sit down is to feed the baby (glad I have that excuse!!) Also had immunizations for bub, kinder orientation, demos that were booked months ago, house to get ready for spraying, extra kids (which means extra washing and extra food and extra beds and extra mess - but extra fun too!  :) ) Still, I am so glad I am young(ish) and fit(ish) and healthy(ish) so I can step in and be there for those that need me. ;D ;D ;D ATM I have a fairly normal house, with kids in bed for their afternoon naps (some asleep and some looking at books, but no the less, resting.)  :)

Good luck to all those with kids doing exams, not looking forward to my turn!
Much needed day off today, have done 3 loads of washing after being away over the weekend. Wedding was fantastic, they had lovely weather for the ceremony in their garden, their 6 kids (aged 13 to 22) were the wedding party. We then walked through a paddock to the reception which was held at a cellar door surrounded by vineyards. Of course I drank too much wine but it was soooo good! Attended a funeral on Monday, a sad occasion but the service was very funny - a celebration of a life well lived.
Gearing up for Halloween now, so far I will be taking 5 kids trick or treating but the number seems to grow every day! Some houses in our street already have decorations up.

Obbie, good luck with sorting out your bullying problem.  We had a problem when GS was staying with us with other children were picking on him because his mother had assaulted him.  He had enough to deal with as it was without other children being nasty.

I went to a varoma demo last night.  I have to admit that I very rarely use my varoma but really enjoyed what they made at the demo.  Unfortunately they didn't give out any recipes although some of them can be found in the EDC.

All the best to those who have family members doing exams at the moment.  Stressful times

Obbie, hope things will be resolved for you soon re bullying, not nice at all.

Cookie, how is DH's knee?

Astarra, I don't know how you manage to do all the things you do, amazing  :)

Gert, I guess one good thing about living in the colder climate, no termites, hope repairs are finished soon for you.

Just housework today, cleaned out cutlery drawer and am constantly amazed why it should need cleaning when everything that is put in there is always washed and dried.  ???

He is very slowly showing signs of improvement Marie. Thanks. He has a MRI tomorrow evening. It was the only appointment we could get before the middle of next week.  :'( the health services are falling to bits even with private insurance.

Gert that looks so much better. They are dreadful little creatures CC. They have been known to eat entire rooves( roofs) and the people not know until it began to cave in. A girl here had a heap of her wooden floating floor eaten and didnt see the signs around the edges. If we leave timber outside on the ground they are there eating it in no time.

Hopefully the barrier will be effective Gert.

Good to hear the DHs are improving. MY DH has finally agreed that our 10 year old dishwasher that has been acting up for weeks needs replacing \o/

Interesting about the HSC. NSW has been going for a little while. Many of DD's friends are finished although she has two more exams on the 4th November. Good luck to all students just starting and sending many "peace love harmony" vibes to their parents  ;D

Termites are a scourge, even here in Sydney. The termite chemical barriers are very pricey but work well. When we bought a property in Bayside Brisbane a couple of years ago, we took the advice of the pest inspector and spent a few thousand on a chemical termite barrier. Lucky we did because the house next door has just been gutted, first by termites then by builders to repair the damage. Damage bill last I heard was more than $60,000 and still counting  :o :o :o

Awful. I was told yesterday someone round us had the same problem. There bill was $60000+ too. They are horrid things. We have European wood borer here too. I have been told you can hear them at night if it is very quiet and still. I am so glad we have a steel roof.

We have a tile roof cookie. The beasties got into the house through a hole in the morter, climbed up to the roof cavity across the hardwood beamsto the hallway saw some lovely soft albeit treated timber framing and started chewing. They don't  touch hard wood. We were very very lucky but it is common when it has been so dry and we do live within a few feet of the rainforest, well In It actually.

The termite barrier guy says he has to pull up every paver in the line of the chemical thingy.. That will be fun.  NOT!
