Bedlam and Cookie,  I hope things are better with both your DH's with both being short term issues. I'm flat out at work at the moment with a big deadline tonight but working from home awaiting delivery of our new washing machine and keeping DD studying for her first exam tomorrow. She is doing a great job but gets sidetracked easily.

Beldam, hope your DH is well soon.

Cookie  I love your DH's sense of humour naming his crutches. Lets hope he doesn't need to get real friendly with either of them for any length of time - for his sake and yours!

Wonder...good luck with your deadline, and keeping your DD motivated to study. I've given up with mine and sent her to school today to talk to her teachers. I was ready to strangle her!

lol Nikkit, I know exactly how you feel. DH and I were only saying this morning that we can't believe how much study our DD is putting in, it's really the only time in her school life we've seen her study. Her boyfriend came over last night for dinner because he was missing us all (bless him) with strict instructions from DD that he could only stay for 2 hours, I woke up this morning and his car was still outside!! Apparently they were studying so well together they continued until around midnight so he stayed over! He is hoping for a score in the 90's so we are happy anytime he can encourage her to study. She spent the day at school yesterday speaking with teachers but found she was distracted by too many other girls doing the same thing. Is your daughters first exam tomorrow?

No Wonder, first exam next Monday 4th. They are spread out like a dogs breakfast. 2 exams that week, a weeks break and 2 exams the following week. Be better if they were one after the other so it was done and dusted and she could get a job.

Will be interesting to see what she says this arvo when she gets home from school.

Thanks Obbie.

Nikkit, which state are you in? Our English exam is tommorrow and then DD's are spread out over the full 3 weeks with her last one on the 18th November. Her boy friend and best friend are finished by the end of next week so I'm thinking she will struggle to maitain momentum to the end. All the best with keeping her on track.

The very best of luck to all those who have exams soon. It is stressful for the whole family.

Nikkit my brother marks some of the Maths papers !

I'm in WA Wonder. You'd think us all being in one country things would be the same...  :-))

DD spent 4 hours with her biology teacher yesterday and an hour with her EES teacher. Today she is spending the morning with her computer science teacher. Do not even speak to us about her English teacher. She ruined English for the whole class this year, not too sure what planet she came from.  >:( so not spending time with her.

I think DD decided it would be a good idea to go to school and see her teachers as I said if she was staying home then she had to help me shovel horse poo, get the vege garden organised, clean out the chook yard, clean out the hay shed and a few other jobs that would be good if someone else was helping.

Just a bit of reverse psychology there on my behalf...I figure find a really horrible job for her and she'll figure she needs to study!!  ;D

And our teenage daughters think we came down in the last shower...ha ha ha!

Cookie she's not doing maths, so he won't have to mark hers.

Crazy that we don't have a national curriculum.

First exam for DD today. It was a bit tense in the house this morning but not as bad as I'm sure it is in many others. They will be over half way through by now so hoping they are going well.

Wonder and Nikkit, having experienced last year what you are currently experiencing, I know how stressful it is for the whole family. My attitude was to ensure she always had food that she enjoyed whatever time of the day or night and let her do her thing. It is soooo good when it is over. You come to a stage where you really don't care about the results!

Ps. Gave DD garlic and other vitimins to ensure she she did not fall sick as a result of the stress.

Eep, Obbie, not the kind of day any mum wants to have.  Hope it went well and you see some positive action.

At home today doing washing, sorting and a bit of baking.  DS has miniball tonight, and we have to stay for 2 games (he plays in one team and I coach another, although that will probably change soon) so packing a second round of lunchboxes.

We also have my niece around to play with DD, so they are having fun.

Nikkit I get cross when the kids don't get a decent teacher. They can make or break things for the kids. They need a very hard boot up the backside and be sacked. It is a bit of a hobby horse of mine. I have worked with some brilliant teachers and also some extremely bad ones. Not fair to the kids.
Good luck Nikkit and Wonder off spring. My thoughts are with you.

Cookie & Bedlam, hope your Husbands are doing much better.

Obbie, I feel for you as don't know why some kids think it's OK to bully others.  Hope it gets sorted soon.

Nikkit, Wonder and anyone else who's kids are into exams, I wish them well.
