DS, DH, GS (3) and myself spent a beautiful few hours at the Melbourne Zoo this morning. DIL had to work unfortunately. We got to see the baby gorilla up close, so adorable. The baby elephant was playing with a whole iceberg lettuce which he finally ate and one of the male lions was standing on a rock nearby to the viewing window, roaring loudly! Just a few highlights of many.

I am so glad to have thermie back; cant understand what is wrong with the blades but as long as I have it home and working I don't really care (except for all that money of course).
Zoo sounds good Katj, especially with your son and GS.

It sounds as if your old blades were 'stripped' troupie.

I'd hate to be without my thermomix for any period of time. I'm glad it's all fixed troupie.
Katj the zoo sounds lovely. I could spend hours in with the lemurs. The baby elephant sounds amazing.

We've been to Melbourne quite a few times over the last 25 years or so and not once did we get to visit the zoo! Where is it exactly?

Judy, the Melbourne zoo is in Carlton, close to Princes Pk where the Carlton football club are.
I have bought my DS and his family an annual pass, it entitles them to get into Melbourne zoo, Werribee Pk Open Plain zoo (fantastic) and Healesville Wildlife sanctuary. Also Taronga if they visit Sydney, Perth zoo, there maybe others.
Money well spent, saves them a fortune as they go often.

Cookie, the Lemurs are adorable, but quiet yesterday. I think they had just been fed, and being a warm day they were sleepy. I love all the animals!

You can go by tram Judy. However it does take you to the back entrance which has never worried us.

Thanks cookie. I'm surprised the kids have never mentioned I should go there.

I hate to admit it, having lived in Melbourne for the best part of 18 years or so, we have never been to the zoo either. We are literally just around the corner from the Imax and been there only three times but have never been to the musuem either - and it is part of the Imax complex.

Marina in the last 10 years I have been to Taronga Park, Melbourne zoo, but not Perth zoo. I think it is a case of knowing that it is there and you can go any time.
I did the shopping this morning. I needed Pine Nuts and Pistachios. I never realised they were so expensive. I paid around $16 for the Pistachios and $15 for the Pine Nuts. They were bigger packets but not really very large, and the price /kg was cheaper in that size. This was in Woolworths. Where do all you lovely people buy these please?

Cookie, I usually get them at Woollies too, only because it's convenient. There is one of the Bulk Source food places in Vic Park. I have never checked his prices, but they would have to be cheaper than supermarkets you woul think.
