We had a car run today. It was a breakfast run.  We had 19 Model A’s there and a few modern cars. Being early it wasn’t too hot. We got home in time for lunch.

Had a blood test early this morning.  Annual thing. Came home and cleaned out the freezer on top of fridge and did 3 loads of washing.
Made an awful loaf of bread yesterday.  Will turn it into crumbs.
Creswick Swap Community are having a Harvest Festival.  For some very strange reason I love Harvest Festivals. Have done so since a small child.  I’m doing a fruit bottling demo in the microwave as part of the activity program. Feel we should contribute as they are such a nice generous group of people.

This morning I went to my GP to get a referral for the eye specialist. Then later my brother called over to show us his new car,  VW Tiguan.

Just logged on and there were no new posts so decided I had better do something about that.

Nothing happening today, yesterday I went to a hand physiotherapist and now have a splint on one of my fingers .... makes typing challenging, as well as many other things, because of loss of some dexterity in my hand, but if the splint works I can put up with it for 6 weeks.

That would be awkward Cuildih but worth it if it works for you, fingers crossed (pardon the pun)  ;D

Had a nice few hours with DH this morning.  After my chiro appointment we met at the shopping centre to have a look for a few things, we then went to the cafe at the Wetlands.  Was a beautiful morning and the birds on the water were lovely to see.  Home now before he goes to bed as he starts nightshift at 7pm.  :)

Hi everyone, haven’t been posting lately (have been reading posts though) as I’ve been spending up to 7 hours a day with Mum.  Things are difficult at the moment with her refusing food, drink and meds so with me being here I am able to get more into her than staff.  It’s all hard work when she is so agitated (for both of us) but I’m succeeding with her medication and drinks.  Eating is a different matter but I can usually get some soup into her.  I’ve given up trying to get her to put her teeth in!

6 weeks is a long time to wear that splint Marina but you’ll manage with that very positive attitude you have.

The meet up with your DH sounded so romantic Julie, that was a lovely feel good posting.

Dr appointment for RAL with Specialist.  Platelets still up.  Dr said they will fluctuate.  But very pleased and next appointment 3 months.  This time last year he was very ill and they were looking for cancer.
I have just spent a couple of hours in the veggie garden. Had the Chooks for company.  Lots of Chinese veggies have self seeded in the path.  I carefully dug them out and planted them in the raised beds. Still picking cherry toms and Zuchinni.  Also some small potatoes and horseradish.

Marina, that will be very awkward for you.  Hope it is not painful.

Judy, I feel for both you and your Mum. Our nice neighbours Mum has just been placed in care.  She is “off her head” half the time and it is very distressing for all the family. She is 98.

Cookie, hope the visit to the Eye Specialist goes ok.

Julie, you cope so well with your DH working shifts.  Well done.

I had a fasting blood test.  GP read the riot act.  Said results were pretty much the same as last year . Nothing too bad but I should lose some weight and exercise.  So back on low cab diet and 30 minutes each morning on Tredmill.

I know it’s healthy for you Chookie but I know it will be very hard. Be brave.

Marina, not fun but hopefully you can last the 6 weeks. It will be worth it.

Lovely to spend time with your DH JulieO. I love it when we are away and it’s only the 2 of us. At home he is always busy for himself or helping someone with their cars.

My eye specialist went well.  No Glaucoma as yet. My cataracts are growing, but until they cause trouble he won’t do them.

Judy I feel for you.  It is so hard and frustrating with our Mums. Jeanie has told MIL several times she will last for ages if she doesn’t eat, so don’t try stopping food.  As long as she is drinking and taking her medication. Is there anything special she would like to eat?

I had some success with her mid afternoon today and I think that’s because the Prednisone has kicked in with the gout problem in her hands.  Taking the pain away seemed to clear her mind, she was watching TV and laughing like she used to. There’s been nothing to laugh about for the past 6 days.  She even fed herself a little of her evening meal and I managed to get a few more spoonfuls into her.  She let me spoon feed her all the soup and a little ice-cream/jelly so her intake of food today was the best it’s been for weeks.  She was 70kg when she went into care 4.5 years ago and now she is 59.  I’m still fighting to get the meds into her but I’m succeeding and it should become easier because she is taking them now.  She finally put her teeth back in this afternoon, it’s not a good look without them.

I remember Mum and her teeth Judy. She would ask me to put them in for her but I couldn’t bear to touch them...I don’t know why but yuk.🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺 We used to have to laugh about it otherwise we would have cried.
You are doing well. Congratulations. MIL eats more if we visit and feed her.

That's good news about your mum,Judy.  Many years ago I was quite ill and I remember that the severe pain just took all appetite for food away - I would easily go for 24 hours without eating anything ...  at the end of it all, and when the pain had gone, my appetite came back!

Judy, you are doing your best but elderly people can be difficult.  That medication is the same they tried on RAL.  It only worked for a shot time.
Cookie, I have Glaucoma.  It is a family issue with us.  Best not to have it.  Mine has been managed with drops for 25 years.  No eye damage.  Also slow growing cataracts.
Looks like the biscuit tin needs filling. So that I am not tempted I will make something that Ral likes and I don’t.  Maybe yo yos.
More veggie gardening today.
