Chookie the ducks are sweet and you picnic spot looks like it is perfect. I hope there were no flies. They are driving us mad out here.
Today we moved from Wickepin to Beverley. Not very far at all. We had planned to stay in Popanyinning where DH spent many years as a child.  It is sad to have a 72 hour stop, but that seems to have been removed. It is truly a one horse town. It is very, very small. One shop and not much else.

The Albert Facey Homestead.

The house DH lived in for several years as a child.

Does anyone live there now cookie?
Your own picnic grounds Chookie, how good is that. I hope the last 3 ducklings survive.

Cookie, no flies but a slight breeze. I think the flies were busy at the Chook shed.
You are certainly visiting interesting places.

I’ve had a day out with a group of 14 today, we went to Mannum for an informative river cruise followed by lunch at the local Community Club. I was up at 5.45 am and didn’t get home until 5.30 pm so it was a long but enjoyable day.

That sounds lovely Judy. My memory of Mannum is getting on the car ferry and the back of the caravan hitting the ground. I love the Murray River.
No Judy, no one lives in the house now.  It is basically falling apart.

We drove home today. We didn’t have far to come. The galahs woke us about 5.30am. I went back to sleep but DH didn’t. We unpacked the van, DH washed it and I popped out and bought some food.

The day just disappeared and not one job done ! Managed to pick up a parcel and pack up a bag . Collected DS then he drove me home ran out of time to get DD anything for her BDay next week !!! eeeek . We all hoped into the fire truck to have its annual check in at the fire brigade station, boys did a tree safety course and also a procedure inside the fire truck if a fire is on top of them and they turn on all the water and the fire blankets come down . We had a steak sandwich . Home late to bunker down the kitten in the dog run for the night .

Judy, we have lovely memories of Mannum. We left from there to do a 7 day river cruise. I bought a Pyrex dish from the op shop. I use it all the time.
KAtie, good idea to put the kitten in the dog run over night.
Cookie, nice to get away but always nice to be home.
Still warm here with showers.

Judy, your day out on the Murray river sounds lovely.   Cookie, thanks for the photos of your few days away.

I have spent the last week sorting out photos and family history. I have ended up with 4 large plastic containers full.    Some I will need to get copies of and give to other family members.  Just about everything is sorted now and back in their places.  It's been a big job and I've done a lot of culling.
The  man who said it can't be done should not interupt the woman doing it.

A job well done Margaret and one that’s on my to do list as well. Apart from albums there must be some photos that I can get rid of to reduce the size of the boxes they’re in.  It’s a time consuming job as we also spend time reminiscing whilst sorting through them.

cookie and Chookie, as you haven’t been to Mannum for a while I’m sure you would notice the change, Mannum Waters is a 156 berth man made marina and one of the few places where you can live on your houseboat in a marina.  Beautiful holiday homes are being built overlooking the marina, it’s lovely.

The River Murray is one of my favourite places, generally very peaceful until weekends and holiday times.  Geoff and I won a 5 day trip on the Proud Mary in 1994 for the TV show Getaway, it was a great holiday and thankfully the camera wasn’t in our face the whole time.  I have the VHS tape of our appearance on the show, not much use in its current form.

Fire safety courses a must in the country K Atie, let’s hope there’s not another bad fire season ahead.

Well we may have exceed our driving distance today 5 1/2 hours ! Picked up DD from college collected her friend then headed down to pt Leo winery , another girlfriend dropped off ( by very kind partner) and had the most amazing lunch with an exceptional view all for DD 19th Birthday celebrations. Topped off with a candle in her dessert. Local strawberry blinis to start with . DS was very patience with girls being head photographer. We headed further on for the night , girls out for dinner and drinks . What a day . DH and I are debating who will stay up to pick them up later tonight! Well after two years of not really celebrating her birthday it’s all worth it .

Happy Birthday to your DD KAtie.

Judy it certainly sounds as if Mannum has changed. One day we will get back there.
