A quick supermarket shop then home to make soup

I did my grocery shopping today. Things missing from the shelves again but I think it is because of the Easter break.

My Melbourne kids were still here from Easter so I took the hems of 4 pairs of jeans up for DD, put a patch on another pair and mended a pocket in SIL’s jeans. We followed a uTube instruction which kept the hem exactly as it came out of the factory, so easy to do and no-one would know they had been shortened. I’d told them I’d like to have a drive of DD’s Mini Cooper so once the work was done we did exactly that. I kept turning the windscreen wipers on instead of the indicators LOL but we made it back home safe and sound. The first car I ever had a drive of was a Mini, what a difference those 2 cars are today.

Judy how wonderful to be able to have a drive of DD’s mini.
I had my first cataract done today. It was quite painful this afternoon, but painkillers are wonderful.
My eyes are rather lopsided vision wise. I’m sure it will improve as time goes on. They were so very lovely at the Eye Hospital.

Cookie, I can’t remember ever driving anyone else’s car before so it was a bit scary at first. I soon gained confidence (except for the indicators) but being so low to the ground it seemed to be going faster than it actually was.

One down, one to go with your cataracts. When is the next op?

The first Tuesday in May Judy. I haven’t needed painkillers today. The world looks very clean and bright.

Yesterday I did a day trip to drop DD off for a 21st weekend! Lucky girls have air bb apparent in Southbank for the weekend ... out all the time and a family and friends lunch at a seafood restaurant. We did a few jobs and out to college to repackage for the weekend . Chemist to get more intense Vitamin C powder , there is a shortage of this because of Covid . Vitamin B too , trying to get DD back healthy after having a post Covid cold that seems to happen to all that have Covid ( both DH and DD had a narsty cold this week ) . Back on the road home stopped at Wilson ballarat to fill the fridge up with food , fuel stop home 7.30 .now this was to get in time to pick DS up from bus .! DS returned from central Australia trip flight delayed and general luggage delay stop for dinner ... I gave up waiting told DH he could collect DS ( as he had been unwell I thought it best I do it but time got the better of me I faded ) . Sad DD is no longer home , I hadn’t seen her since February , great to have DS home for a few days . Enjoy your long weekend .

Very quiet today , I always feel zapped after such a big day . Did some washing hoping all the stubble fires tomorrow don’t impact the washing ! DS rested most of the day then helped DH wash the tractor and fix a machinery hose .

Katie, you lead such a busy life I'm not surprised that you feel a bit zapped out.

Yesterday our neighbour cut off all the lower fronds on his tree ferns and then came in and did ours. I don't think he likes powdery dust that keeps falling on his car.   We were very happy for him do ours too as they were getting quite tall.

Washing DS red clothes !! Lunch at MILs as DHs DS visited from interstate. Roast lamb and roast vegetables. DH added more roast vegetables as not enough! Apple coconut dessert. DH carved and we served up the meal . Lost an afternoon but had family time .

My neighbours from the country came down to stay with us in the city over the weekend so spent leisurely with them and out for breakfast on Sunday, which was a rare treat.  Today is a public holiday and the last day of my "holiday" so I will spend it paying bills, sorting out the BAS, working on our new web site and trying to get some filing done! Whatever happened to a traditional holiday when you didn't use the time to catch up on your workload????????

A good question Marina, my DD over there is the same - obviously it’s those with their own business who put in the extra hours.  Retirement will be great when that comes along.
