We have a few rats here and I like to set the traps with peanut butter. Love the sound of the snap in the middle of the night. There are two Jack Russels in this house and they take absolutely no notice of rats or mice. Useless!

Goldfish - that rat is not "having what she's having" ... oh no... he's got his own special little blue potion that will make him feel very sick and die (insert evil laugh there!)
And to be honest I don't care one iota if he needs counselling. He has no place here in my chook yard.
Gert I called in "the big dogs" - a tough staffy and a fast kelpie and both of them were hopeless at catching the rat
I can't set a trap as it is in the chook yard and the chookies might get caught.
obbie - I'm not going to catch it - I'm going to kill it. There's no happy, feel good, save the rats, feelings here. It will die.
When I rang my hubby he said "shoot it". Now if I had a shot gun I would have, plus shot the bejeezus out of everything else within range I reckon. (many moons ago I was pretty handy with a shot gun!) He also said "i'll be home by 6 tonight" so that meant he was not going to help me
Never mind...I will win...eventually

... I don't often come onto this thread but thought I would add what I am doing today ... I am waiting anxiously to hear from Judy following her meeting with Geoff's medical team.

Got the recipes sorted and discarded so many. The sections I found easiest to get rid of were biscuits, cakes and slices. I can't go past this forum for the best biscuits, slices and cakes. Cookie blessed us with a collection of her favourites at the retreat last year and as you all probably know limoncello melting moments are the number 1 in this household and the neighbours.
One neat folder of recipes and one garbage bag of recipes. I'm going to menu plan from the folder this week, so many recipes I had forgotten about.

I think you are very brave Nikkit. Make sure you get the rat over the weekend cos he's probably upsetting the girls in the hen house. I would be finding a friend who has a Jack Russell that likes abit of ratting.

Good Work Michele. I hope to go through mine soon.
Nikkit I have just had the best laugh, thank you. I think you should take up writing. I can visualise the scene so well.

Hmmph! So glad I made you all laugh at the rat escapade.
I have just ventured out to the chook yard and no rat in sight. I did make a fair bit of noise though
I'll give him a couple of days and then move the drum again and see if he has been back. I sincerely hope he doesn't have wife and kids somewhere, that would do my head in. (and my big girl panties!)
I think there is something in my hay shed too, I was up there this arvo making feeds up for my boys and there is a suspicious pile of dirt coming from under bags of feed. After my exertions earlier (and the large restorative cuppa with 'extras'
) I didn't feel up to moving them to see what made the pile.
