Boys' first day back to school...and I'm missing them. Have kept myself busy with groceries, some clean up in kitchen. Plus made pizza dough for their afternoon tea. The feeling is still there though. Will have to pump up the music in the kitchen to drive the blues away :)

Nikkit we are getting the easterly strongly over here too, so I can imagine what it is like for you. I just checked Pearce's highest wind was 61kph and Bickley was 76. I used to live over near Bickley. I'm glad I don't anymore.

BZB that is so sweet that you are missing the boys.

I've still got mine on holidays ATM  ;D  Miss7 starts again on Wed, miss4 the following Monday. Not looking forward to it.

Today we have cut up a ripped school uniform and are in the process of making hankies and hair ties out of the material....probably a bit weird but the girls are enjoying learning to use the sewing machine and having something to show for it too. So cute.  :)  ;D

First day of school for DS.  The school has a really lovely way of welcoming the new little students.  There is a school assembly on the oval with all the school present.  The year 12 students and the year 1 students sit up the front, and as each child is welcomed to the school, a year 12 student gives the year 1 student a rose and a hug.  The ceremony is repeated at the end of the year, where the year 1 kids give the year 12 kids a rose to farewell them from the school.

It was a really lovely morning - and yes I cried  ;D ;D

that's such a lovely idea, and even better if its not a stinking hot day. there looks to be a good turnout of parents to watch.

well, mum's who have an empty nest during school hours spare a thought for full time empty nesters who have no grown up kidlets making a noise or a mess. I always thought I would be jumping and down for joy when they spread their wings but I miss their smiling faces, computer help, and banter. (I have no one to discuss MKR with now   :-))) Cherish the peace and quiet while you have it when they're at school, and then enjoy having them and their friends around when they come home. The years fly by and they are very slow at making you grandparents nowadays so its a long time between bear hugs
