I'm having a quiet day today :D

Yesterday we had a birthday party for GS who turned 13 a couple of days ago.  He told me a little while ago that he had never had a birthday party so we made this one rather special.

I gave him three choices, we could go to a restaurant for dinner, a party at nans house or a campfire  party at his uncles.  He chose the campfire because there was lots of room for everyone to run around.

As well as all the nibbles and cakes I made we also had a camp oven roast with roast potatoes.

He had a wonderful time and went home on a high although that could have been because of all the cordial and cake he ate. :D

Mab that is lovely.

Astarra it sounds horrid with your wrist. Perhaps you should get DH to clean the shower in the future. I hope they are able to help the pain.

I did the ironing this morning and plan to cook all afternoon as I am taking some lunch out with us as some of our club members do some jobs in preparation for the big rally.

I think the campfire party sounds like the best fun for 13yo boys (and everyone else)

Not surprised GS chose the campfire choice Margaret, it sounds fun.  Did you cook food over the campfire?  The dog certainly knew where the best place was to keep warm  ;D

Judy, My DS1 cooked a roast leg lamb and a roast chicken in the camp ovens in a hole in the ground.  As for the poor dog she was most upset because she was put on a lead.  We had two littles there on the day and they were unsure about the dog.  She would never have hurt them but she does like to run  about with the older children.

So that's why she doesn't look too happy Margaret, poor girl she would have loved to have been able to join in the fun.

BZB I cannot tell you what a joy it is for me to see your boys playing lovely classical pieces and doing it well. It is such a shame more children are not exposed to this type of music.

We were up in the hills packing gear for the National Rally. Not only did we get the first of some big jobs done but we had a lovely lunch and a great morning tea. Not to mention the chat. My feet and legs are tired though as I am not used to standing up for several hours any more.
