It sounds like there are not many shops left in Perth. I can remember back to the lovely department stores when I was first going to Work; Boans, Bairds, Foys, Aherns, Moores, Cox Bros are some of them and also lots of material stores for dressmaking. I haven't been in for around 12 months but won a voucher for Boffins at my sewing guild so better go and spend it. Hope they sell cookbooks.

Glad your DD got some books Cookie. Angus and Robertson have also gone I think. Must get on the train and go have a look.

I remember all those stores troupie. Cox Bros was on the corner. When we came down from the farm we would usually go into the city as Mum or Dad would usually have some business to sort out and it was all in the city then.
When we went to boarding school we would drop our gear off at school and then go out to lunch in the city. Very often to Boans.
Lots of memories.

Some of the same store you mention in Perth were also in Melbourne. All gone now. Readings has survived, thank heavens.  I see that Books for Cooks is shifting to near the Vic Market.

Today I hope to cook up the last of the Apples and Quinces to make Jelly.

I love Readings Chookie. It was awesome when Borders was just down the road.

I had my hair cut today too Mab. Then a rush to the chemist to pick up some scripts, then to the library to drop off DD's books. She was going to do it on Saturday but has to work now.

Sorry Mab, read your comment as "Blood tests this morning  and they had my hair cut."
For few secs, was wondering why would they get your hair cut to get a blood test ?  :o
Looks like I have been in front of the system way tooo long, had to work from home yesterday until 12 :(

I had my 6 monthly check this morning. No nasties just a heap of nitrogen burn offs. Then did the shopping. Spent the afternoon cooking. Mainly flops, so I shouldn't have started. However it all tastes nice.

Some days are for appointments others are for cooking cookie, tomorrow will be better in the kitchen. Good news from the specialist.

Currently enjoying a few days in Yallingup WA. We were hoping for a few days s away from the kids but I've had to work so DH has been exploring on his own. Hoping I'll be able to do a few hours very early tomorrow then spend the day driving around tomorrow, then up to Perth for a few day from Friday for my bosses 50'th on Saturday. Our entire team is coming from across the globe so it will be great to see my work colleagues in the flesh and also for DH to finally meet some I've worked with for the last few years. This region is beautiful and I can see why everyone's loves it so much, just a shame I can't see and do more but it's better than nothing  ;D.

Your chair looks absolutely fabulous, CC.  You obviously spent tons of hours on it and must be very proud of your workmanship.  I have never seen a cane backing like that before, it is really eye-catching.

Cookie, glad to hear your checkup went well.
With regard to the flops in the kitchen, even though they still tasted good, it's frustrating when you have those days, and we all do. It is strange.
