Sounds like you had a great day Denise.  You certainly need time when visiting Ikea and our DD's are very short of free time with their busy lives Chookie.  Good to hear GD is a great companion to go shopping with. It's been years since I had a browse through Ikea.

I'm sure it's very hard not to buy something when you go to IKEA Chookie and Judy LOL

We live walking distance to IKEA.  We live it, and yes, you rarely come out with nothing. Lol

We have a massive IKEA not so far away from us and I hate going there.  I thought it would be great so, when it opened a couple of years ago I was eager to get there.  After browsing around for a little while I decided I would head for the exit and started to follow the exit signs, only to find that they, literally, had me going around in circles and not sending me to the exit at all.  I didn't exactly panic, but I was very uncomfortable at the thought that, if there was ever a fire, with the dense smoke and dangerous fumes from all those man made foams, fabrics, etc. you didn't stand a chance of getting out (talk about a negative mind-set!).

Anyway, once I eventually got out it took me a long, long time before I went in again and even now, when I go, I go straight to the area I need to get to then leave as soon as I can ... that first visit obviously still lingers in my grey matter.

Marina, I had the same experience and don't go there now.  However I once went with DIL and there is an easy escape route, if you know it.

DS took us to an interesting place for lunch today. It was in Brunswick Rd, Fitzroy. Don't be put off by the name, it was called Naked for Satan. It had 3 levels, the top rooftop level had beautiful views of Melbourne city. The decor was very interesting. We ate at ground floor level as we were running short of parking time. They had a huge selection of Pintxos (pronounced pinchos) similar to tapas. Each one was anchored to the crostini with a toothpick. You saved the toothpicks and they charged $1 per toothpick. We had 5 each and were full. A cheap lunch for 3 at $15 total. Upstairs had a more extensive menu. We will definitely go back one day.

That is just around the corner from us and it sounds good.  Must give it a try.
