Ouch! Your knee sounds sore Margaret. Another adult certainly makes the food shopping that bit more expensive. I always tell DD I should charge her more rent as she takes her lunch every day which saves her a fortune.

Not something to look forward to Margaret from what I’ve heard but you will know when it has to be done.

Not a pleasant operation to look forward too Margaret but I know a couple of people who have had knee replacements with excellent results.

Oww - I don't envy you your knee operation, but it is really, really amazing what they can do now and I am sure it will be successful.

Mab, not nice. We seem to need these things done as we get older.
As extra person in the house certainly increases the food bill.
Off to Bendigo today to have car serviced.  Probably the last time as we have now found a place in Ballarat that can do lt.

That's closer for sure Chookie, but no coffees by the lake!.

I'm off to do the food shopping this morning after I make a list etc. I usually go Wednesdays but tomorrow we have to attend the State Administrative Tribunal so that DH's brother can be legally removed as his Mum's guardian and administrator. We thought it would be a formality, but it's not, they have to check that DH and his brother weren't colluding to rip their Mum off. There is so much elder abuse that I can understand it.

Cookie, you are very generous in your comments about the admin  tribunal.
When my brother died we felt we were under suspicion from the coroner. We in fact bent over backwards to look after him. It had all been extremely difficult and we could have done without their attitude.

I know how you feel Chookie. The Public Advocate rang a while back and asked lots of 'interesting' questions. I will know better after tomorrow. We have been the ones that have submitted each yearly return for MIL so I have a complete and very thorough knowledge of her finances etc. It makes us feel uncomfortable that the Public Advocate has been looking into things. It would have been a lot easier if she had willingly gone into care and SAT would have had no need to appoint guardians for her. Although I can understand how she felt.

All went well yesterday at the tribunal. It was fairly brief. We stood for the 'judge' and 15 minutes later DH was declared the soul guardian and administrator for his Mum. The public advocate who had asked so many questions had done a lot of research into what we have done for the last 8 years with  our returns etc and said we were doing a wonderful job. DH and I were both nervous.

Well done Cookie.  I know you have been doing the financial returns and it is a big responsible job.

Today Rals phone went bonkers.  We went to a local fixer.  He thinks it didn’t finish an upgrade and therefore closed down.  Ral hasn’t a clue what is going on. Neither have I.  The fixer was so prompt and didn’t charge much so I took him a pot of jam.  He loved it.  Glad I have made lots.

Well done Mr & Mrs cookie, naturally you would be nervous.  I hope you went out and celebrated afterwards. It’s a thankless task but someone has to do it.

Thanks Ladies. It's over now for 5 years if MIL lasts that long. Poor old chook. Still need to do the annual reports though 😔😔😔😔

Chookie I'm sure the phone person will remember you and the jam.

I really feel like making Cinnamon Rolls.  Hope I can find the time between all that is going on.
We have a man coming to advise about fitting Solar powered security gates. Long story short, when we were away at Barwon Heads someone came and stripped ALL the peaches from our tree. Neighbour saw the car and we think it was the previous owners.

That would have been stressful for you both Cookie. Glad it went well.

Not good news Mab. As my Physio says, these things happen when we grow up. Don't know if this helps but my father had both knees replaced and it was a huge success. He went from being barely able to walk to going for a jog most days. When he was in his 90s, his daily jog was only about 100 metres but he was still very active.
