Chookie you are all doing an amazing job . Love the idea of a Memorial garden for Ral .
We are shearing this week . Spent Sunday with DH cleaning and preparing the shearing shed till late . All day Monday helping home late . My knees are aching, getting old is no good , so change of footwear tomorrow. Ii managed to go to yoga after setting everything up and cleaning up . Wet sheep so they stopped at lunch time . This gave me an opportunity to go to DGF to make double batch of onion jam for our local hospital market , which is a big event this Sunday. Home to make dinner and early night . Up early to make a batch of muffins .

Helping out in shearing shed then off to bookclub, back to clean up shearing kitchen and sort out the dishwasher that’s driving me crazy with its long programs . Sorted , instead of 175 mins got it down to 90 or 30 .

Off to the dentist who drained an infection in my gum. Feels good now so I am glad I didn't put the dentist off and just let the infection run its course - mouth infections can be very serious if they are not treated so I didn't mess around waiting before I did anything. My BIL became seriously sick several years ago following a standard tooth extraction. He had to be taken by ambulance in the middle of the northern Scottish winter with snow everywhere from his home in Inverness to Aberdeen c. 300 kms away, or approx. 2 1/2 hours on a fine day. He came through, although not unscathed but we are all very wary of any dental works being undertaken.

Tooth pain is up there with the worst in my eyes Marina, I’m glad you’re feeling better. I’m spending up to $700 a year on mouth products to protect my teeth and gums after radiation treatment. I once saw a programme of a women’s teeth after radiation, it was enough to scare the daylights out of me that this could happen to me if I didn’t take on board the advice and products my specialist dentist asked me to use. Some people don’t take that advice, I guess some can’t afford to but I was told by my specialist that I was his best patient and that was only because I did as I was advised.

I am terrified of dentist but had to go for a check up recently, thank goodness all was ok except for a clean.

I'm also terrified of the dentist but go regularly for my check up and have things done that need doing.
Well done, Marina. They say there is a link between unhealthy teeth and heart disease.

Judy well done for taking extra care of your teeth .
I’ve been up very early each day to prep smoko and collect bread for shearers . In shearing shed again today . So much happening , even the Header man came to service it . While DH is transporting the sheep , moving them into the years etc.

Gosh, Judy, I never even thought of that relation between your treatment and the subsequent effect on your teeth, but of course, it makes sense. It is so worthwhile to keep your teeth in good condition. Good on you for keeping at it.
Compared to the dentists we had when I was school age (dental nurses they were called at that time) who would merrily drill your teeth without anesthetics it's no wonder many of us at our age have problems going to dentists. I am lucky in that mine are very good and I have regular check ups so am happy with that.

Thanks Marina. Like you I can remember going to the dentist as a child, on the first occasion I started screaming as soon as I saw the equipment hanging from the ceiling. The dentist told Mum to take me home and come back when I could behave myself! Comparing those days to the modern day dentists is so completely different that I don’t have a problem going now at all. Once they introduced the gel to stop the pain of the needle going into the gums it became completely painless for me.

We had dentists come round in the bush to do our teeth. They drilled without injections too. It was a horrid pain. Even now I remind the dentist that I am a chicken each time I go. He is far too young to even remotely remember such things happening.

I relate to the horror stories about dentists. My DD specialises in dentistry for older scared woman and children. The word has got around and when she recently changed practises, 400 patients followed her. She is at the moment doing an extensive study course into sleep apnea.
Judy, congratulations for looking after your teeth.

Thanks Chookie. I had the best special dentist during and after radiation and as it was during Covid there were less people coming through the system so he held onto me a bit longer than he normally could. We had a great relationship and I was sorry when he had to let me go but my local dentist is very good too.
