Newbie without a machine....
« on: July 18, 2012, 11:55:44 pm »
Hi everyone,

I'm new here but have been reading posts.

My husband and I are researching machines at the hard decision with the choice on the market at the moment!

We have seen the thermomix (SIL has one) and the thermochef (mate has one), but after some researching we are quite interested in the hotmix too. We think it will suit the style of cooking we like a little more. Then another spanner was thrown into the works when we heard the creative is coming out as although it costs a lot more, making ice cream is one of the things we love best and the idea of making the mustard andleaving it in the machine with no fridge time is awesome! And our ice cream maker takes up so much cupboard space....

Gee all the choices! But hopefully reading on here will help us decide. They aren't short term machines so we want to make the right decision for us.....

Happy cooking everyone!

Welcome. I'm glad you have decided to join us as you will find so  many positives on here for the Thermomix, in fact I think you will find we all love our machines.
Have a good look at the forum and the types of recipes you would like to make and think how they would go in the other machines. I agree you have a hard decision to make. I love my TMX and would replace it instantly.

Hi, and welcome.
I have a thermomix and love it. I am also interested in the HMP..

Try and see both, then decide.

Hi squishypiranha, welcome to the  forum.

I'm sure by spending time in the forum reading about the TMX will help you make a decision of which machine to buy.
I can't speak about other machines, but I have been using my TMX for a few years and I'm completely happy with it.
Like so many different appliances there are pluses and minuses in all. As you said, it is a big investment and you have to do your research to find out which one suits best your way of cooking.

Good luck with making your decision :)

Welcome squishy. There are a couple of people here  with the HMP who can tell you about the HMP  one which is desirable and the Gastro even more so for the reasons you mentioned .

Of course we all love our Thermomix  so you will get a fair bit of buy me buy me. LOL!

Enjoy the forum.

Hi SP, welcome to the forum.  Good luck with your decision, it is getting harder these days with more similar type machines on the market.  I've had my TMX for almost 4 years and have no intention of replacing it with anything - I'm hoping it will see me out.

Hi Squishy,
It is a really hard decision to make.
Like everyone else here I love my TM and would never change.
A huge advantage of the TM is this forum and the help and recipes that are available.
I feel confident knowing I have support and advice for any problem that I may encounter (not that there have been any in the 5
months I have had mine).
Also the number of recipes available on this site and others is amazing. Anything you want you just look it up and it is there.
I don't know if the same recipes would work for the Hot Mix Pro etc. Maybe worth keeping in mind.
Anne.

Welcome to the forum.  Once important thing that sold me on the TM is that I know people who have had their machine for 28 years.  I don't know of another machine that keeps going for so long.   Goodluck with your decision!!!

With Trudy's information, my machine will certainly see me out.  I don't think they will let me take it into the nursing home with me  :D :D
