In that case you may have to live with it until someone with an iPad one can help. Bugger!

There is a new iPad mini coming out in  October  that will be not so expensive . Maybe you could pass that very generously given one along to another  and buy a new one.

I am all for passing things forward as you know. I like to pass forward to strangers and not to family.

No garbage bin Gretchen.

Did you transfer  this photo from your PC? If so you may be able to delete it from there as it will be view only on your iPad 1.

Yes it was transferred from PC but I don't want pictures of food on the iPad.  I delete them once I've posted them on the forum.  No worries, someone will know the answer Gert.

Try hooking up  your iPad up to the PC going to the food photo in the PC and delete it there. It should then sync and remove it from your iPad.  Since you have no camera on your iPad one it is view only and you cannot alter or delete it.

I think this is what yo mean, and I apologize if I've misunderstood. To delete photo's you tap the box with the arrow inside of it at the top right hand side of the screen, then tap the photos that you want to delete. A little tick will appear on the photo then you can tap the delete button that appears at the top left of the screen. As a side note, you can also tap the share button and email multiple photo's as well.

Also, speaking of photos, you can save photos from the Internet/Safari by tapping it and holding your finger down on it for a second or so. A button will appear to 'Save Photo'. Tap that and it'll save to your photos app.

Thanks for the tip on making your own shortcuts Gert! I knew there was something there, but hadn't got around to exploring and finding out.

This is an iPhone tip, not an iPad one: When taking photos, you can move the white square around and the lighting will be taken from this area. To test it, take a landscape photo and move the square to the sky, take another and move it to the foreground or hills/water in background. Try lots of different areas and compare the photos.

Since I have an iPad2, I rarely use it for photos, but do use my iPhone quite a lot.
A great cook is one who can rustle up a fabulous family meal with some freezer burnt chops, wilted carrots, sprouting potatoes and cabbage that's gone brown on the cut edges.

Followed your instructions Jakodai, saw the delete button and ticks for the first time but got no response from the delete button. Will work on Gretchen's idea tomorrow.

JS, it sounds as though you may have to delete it that way. I have some photos on my iPad that can't be deleted from the iPad, maybe because you put it on from the computer, you have to remove it from the computer.

I can see the logic in it jakodai but I thought iPads were smarter than that.

I am slowly working my way through the app 'iPad secrets'. It is wonderful. I'm trying to incorporate as many as I can. Xxx thanks Gert.

judydawn with the ipad one i vaguely remember there being a glitch where if the photo was downloaded from the computer it needs to be deleted via the computer but if you have loaded it directly to the ipad via the camera connector you can delete directly from the ipad. I'm assuming you don't have the camera connector so looks like you will need to delete from the computer first and then sync the ipad.

It is money well spent for any level.

Very cheap at 99 cents.  I think I have saved myself more than that in time, not having to use safari for my favourite sites. They are all in one icon now marked favourite sites.
