I buy readymade wonton wrappers  from the Asian grocery. They're so cheap it's not worth making our own. I then use chicken mince, soy, sugar, shallots, bamboo shoots and shiitake mushrooms (last three ingredients all chopped finely). Mix together and start wrapping. I usually make bulk lot and freeze. Last time I made it I made about 60 I think.

Thanks MEP. I want to try steamed wontons in the varoma but I don't cook much Asian food. I want to try rice paper rolls as well :) I'll try your recipe and Hally's too. Then I might be brave enough to make my own combination ;)

I have never tried steaming them Amy. I always cook as a soup with just chicken stock. The website www.rasamalaysia.com  website is very good for Asian recipes. I always look there when I'm looking for an Asian recipe.

Good luck  :)

Thanks for the link MEP :D

I thought steaming would be the healthiest option, but I will have to be careful not to dry them out. Mind you, cooking in chicken stock doesn't sound too bad either ;D I'll try both!!

Agreed Amy. I steam dumplings and the bottom is sometimes soggy, but the top Has dried out. Hence I always make wonton soup.

Mine probably isn't as healthy as Cindy's Amy but you could sub the coconut milk for the evaporated milk type.

Amy, I make my own spring rolls, also buy the Mini spring rolls off a friend who has a barra farm.

Barra and vege spring rolls, or vegetarian spring rolls. :)

sometimes so easy to cook up for lunch, or if friends pop in for drinks.

love the mini size too.
